First Trimester Bumpdate – Baby #3

It’s that time again! Time for my official first trimester bumpdate! I did bi weekly bumpdates on the blog with both Chloe and Brody. I love being able to go back and look at my pregnancy journey via those entries, so I knew I had to continue doing it for baby G3.

Shop my look.

I am personally quite nosy and love reading about other women’s pregnancy journeys, so if you’re like me, I’d love for you to follow along! I plan to post every 2-3 weeks sharing the ups and downs of pregnancy. I like to be as real and transparent as possible because pregnancy isn’t always easy!

Let’s get started and take a look at my first trimester bumpdate: Baby G3 edition!

How far along?

14 Weeks as of Saturday, May30.

I can officially say I’m in the second trimester! It’s funny how much debate there is around when the first trimester ends. You find anywhere from end of Week 12 to Week 14. For my first baby, this drove me insane. Now with my third baby, I’m just happy he or she is in there and growing no matter what trimester it is!

Bump comparison between baby 2 and 3. First trimester bumpdate

Here’s a fun comparison of me pregnant with baby 2 (left) and baby 3 (right). As you can see, I was at Disney World on the left and my little bump was starting to show!

Size of Baby

Baby is roughly 3.4 inches and 1.5 ounces and is the size of a:

  • Lemon
  • Peach
  • Troll doll

These size comparisons are awesome and always make me laugh. On the plus side, they are very tangible things that help you understand your baby. More importantly this time for me, I can explain the size of the baby to Chloe because she is VERY invested in every aspect of this pregnancy. I pray that she’ll be able to go to the doctor with me at least once during an ultrasound!

Gender

I’ll keep this category in here for this week only because wee decided not to find out the sex of this baby! Since we have a girl and a boy, we thought it would be fun to have a surprise gender on baby’s birthday! We have everything we need, and since this is likely my last pregnancy, I want it to be special. It’s definitely going to make his or her birthday extra special!

Weight Gain

I’m up about 6-7 lbs. I’m pretty sure that I have quarantine and baby to thank for that one! Also I wasn’t very nauseous; instead, I was very hungry!

Symptoms

Increased Heart Rate & Breathlessness: This is one of the first things that made me realize I was pregnant this time around! As a fit momma, it’s no fun to feel so out of breath and like my heart is beating like crazy! On the plus side, it’s normal and it makes me keep myself in check while working out.

Crazy Emotions: Holy emotions Batman! I know I was emotional during my other pregnancies, but this one takes the cake. I’m sure that being in my first trimester during quarantine hasn’t helped at all. (You may remember that I found out I was pregnant the day before Texas shut down.)

Exhaustion: Just like my emotions, I think this pregnancy has made me the most exhausted. Add having a 4 and 1 year old at home with me all day long and it makes sense. I think I would be beat during quarantine without being pregnant. Add pregnancy hormones on top of it all and it’s a recipe for early bedtimes.

Cravings

Lots of food! I’ve been craving more carbs in particular. Cheese Its are delicious and so are cinnamon graham crackers and kettle corn. I’m also craving lots of fruit and spicy food like anything with buffalo or jalapeno! I’m pretty much all over the place.

My aversions consist of meat, just meat. I’m struggling to eat meat lately, but I can handle it in casseroles, dips and other mixed meals. Having a slice of meat like a steak, grilled chicken or pork tenderloin is not going to work for me.

Mood

All over the place. While I am extremely overjoyed to be creating this life and adding a precious soul to our family, the stress and anxiety that comes with quarantine and the state of our country weighs on me a lot. I’ve mentioned multiple times in this post that the pregnancy hormones have been no joke and I’ll say it again. These pregnancy hormones have been intense making all of my emotions that much more intense as well.

Movement

Nothing yet. They say that you can possibly feel your 3rd baby flutter as early as 13-14 weeks! I thought I may have felt something the other day, but let’s be real, it could have been gas!

With Chloe, I felt her around 18 weeks and Brody was right before 16 weeks! Crossing my fingers that I notice it soon. I’d also like to note that there’s a chance I don’t feel the tiny flutter because I’m so busy chasing around a 4 and 1 year old!

Sleep

I’m sleeping okay. I have no trouble falling asleep, but staying asleep can be a challenge. I’ve been taking half a Unisom a few nights a week to help with that. It definitely works and is completely approved by my doctor.

I also busted out my pregnancy pillow already about two weeks ago. No regrets. It’s so comfortable and helps my hips so much! Here’s a link to it on Amazon in case another momma to be is looking for a good one. I’ve used it for all 3 pregnancies now, so you know it’s good quality. I also got this Snoogle pillow cover to protect it and prolong it’s life during my second pregnancy!

Workouts

I’m staying incredibly active and working out, running or walking 6-7 days a week! On days that I don’t have a lot of energy, I always go on a walk. It finds a way to lift my spirit and give me a bit of energy!

Those of you curious about my running, I definitely listen to my body and take it easier. My pace has slowed significantly, but I’m still challenging myself! Since it’s getting hotter, I’m trying to be even more careful and I’m always making sure to dress appropriately and carry water for every run!

Here are some of the workouts I’ve done recently:

Summertime Arms

UNO Workout

Mommy & Me Workout

Lower Body Booty Burn

What I Miss

Wine. That’s really what I miss the most right now. Parenting in quarantine without a glass of wine every now and then is challenging! I swear I’m not an alcoholic. Just a mother of two young kids.

Emotional stability. Another thing I miss is feeling like myself. Slowly but surely my hormones are regulating, but the emotions this time around have been intense. Again, I think being pregnant during quarantine doesn’t help. Props to all the pregnant mommas out there during this time. If you know one, give them an air hug because it is not easy! Thanks to my tribe of women who have loved me and supported me during this time.

Looking Forward To

Going to Florida to see my bestie, Julie and play at the beach! This trip was originally planned for Mother’s Day weekend and we were supposed to go to Disney World. That clearly didn’t happen, so we moved our trip to the end of June. We were hoping that Disney would still happen, but no. Instead I’ll be heading back in September to visit Disney with her for my birthday! This time, I’ll be flying to Ft. Meyers with Brody and we’re going to have a fun week at the beach!

That’s a First Trimester Wrap!

But seriously, the first trimester is over and I’m excited to enjoy the second trimester of this pregnancy! With life slowly returning to normal and an exciting trip to look forward to, I have high hope for these next three months.

Just for fun, here are my first trimester bumpdates with Chloe and Brody! It’s so fun to see how they compare and contrast!

How have your pregnancies differed? Any huge differences you’ve noticed?

I will definitely say that my bump so much bigger this 3rd time around!

  1. Gender: We actually found out the gender through a blood test! I never got to surprise Paul that I was pregnant because I ran into the room and was like, You re right! You re right! I m pregnant! My doctor offered the test and so we chose to find out the gender because I wanted to have that moment of surprising him. I cooked him dinner and bought a baby gift with the outfit and the look on his face was seriously the best gift ever! Being so sick lately I feel like such a boring wife and so I was so happy I was able to give him a surprise that felt like such a special gift. However, we aren t sharing until we do the anatomy ultrasound! I will say I was 100% convinced it was a boy and Paul was 100% convinced it was a girl. We didn t care either way and with it being our first I think it s so special no matter what gender! All we care about is just hearing our little babe s heart beat each time we go to the doctor s office, it s honestly the best sound I ve ever heard and I could listen to it all day long!
