A brief break

Ho Ho Ho!!! It’s two weeks until Christmas y’all! I’m so excited I can hardly stand it. Christmas is my favorite time of year. We’ve been busy around here visiting Santa, seeing lights, playing in the SNOW and so much more!

I know that I’ve been kind of MIA around the blog just popping in here and there. I’ve been so busy that during my downtime, I just don’t feel like getting on my computer and blogging. I’d rather relax with a cup of coffee on the couch or watch a tv show in peace. I love this space that I’ve created and cultivated over the past few years, but I think I just need to take some time to step away and figure out the direction I want it to go.

I don’t want it to just be an online diary of my life. I want to share my health and fitness expertise. I want to share my travel adventures. I want to share about my family and more. I want it to truly be the “balancing act” of my life. It’s drifted the last few months because I haven’t given it the time it needs.

All of this being said, I’m hoping to just take a brief break. I want to immerse myself in my family and have less worries over the next few weeks. I want to spend the holidays completely present. I don’t want to worry about trying to get an awesome post up or creating something clever to bring my blog “back.”  My plan is to come back with the New Year with a new plan and strategy. Sometimes you just have to step away from something to appreciate it!

Before I go, here are some awesome pictures from our adventures this past week. If you want to keep up with me over the holidays, be sure to follow me on Instagram!

Last Wednesday, we went an visited Santa with Ali and Renee! It’s safe to say that both girls are not fans of Santa yet. It’s okay though, Santa told Chloe that she’s on his nice list and that he’ll still come visit her. He even said that he’d bring her an Elsa dress and baby doll that she said she wanted! {Lucky girl!} He was an amazing and patient Santa!

On Friday we got SNOW! Y’all it hasn’t snowed in Houston since December 2009. I’m not even kidding. It’s been 8 years! It started Thursday night and we didn’t think that it would stick because it was only supposed to get to 34 degrees. We were wrong and it stuck!!! It actually got below freezing and we ended up with about an inch and a half of snow.

We woke Chloe up early to play all morning! She absolutely hated it at first, but after she woke up, she loved it. She kept wanting to go outside and who was I to say no? We were in and out all morning and she was so sad when the snow melting and the snowmen fell down!

Friday night JP and I got all dolled up for his work Christmas party! We only got one picture from the night, but we had a great time downtown at B&B Butchers. Good food, good company and a nice night off!

Sunday morning I woke up for my long run and once again there was frost on the ground. No snow, just frost, but it made for a beautiful run! I got a very cold 6 miles in. I’m not used to running in the cold, but it’s so much better than the hot, humid Houston air.

That’s about all I have for today! We had a wonderful week and have been living life to the fullest. So for now, I’m saying goodbye to this little space. I just need a break, so don’t worry, I’ll be back! Like I said earlier, stay in touch with Instagram because I’ll still be on there!

Hopefully I’ll come back with a bang and a plan in January! So Merry Christmas and Happy New Year y’all!
