Designer Whey Sustainable Energy

Disclaimer: I received this product free to review through a FitFluential campaign. I received no other compensation. As always all opinions in the post are mine!
As y’all know, I love smoothies. They’re a great mid-afternoon snack or even a hearty lunch if you know how to add the right ingredients to make it filling enough! When Designer Whey reached out to me through FitFluential, I knew I had to try their new sustained energy product! {Read to the end because you may get to try it too!}

Now I have used Designer Whey before, but never their Sustained Energy blend which has only been on the market for a short time.

Designer Whey® Sustained Energy™ is specifically formulated with our proprietary Endurance Blend™. Designed to give you balanced, stimulant-free, sustained energy through fast absorbing whey protein and slower absorbing soy and casein proteins, giving you a steady supply of essential amino acids while helping you control hunger with fiber.  Packed with 16 grams of protein, 5 grams of fiber and 19 Essential Vitamins & Minerals
and naturally flavored and sweetened – all for only 100-good-for-you calories!

At 100 calories and 16 grams of protein per scoop, it’s the perfect addition to smoothies to add a little extra umph to get you through the day. I’ve found that having a smoothie with Designer Whey Sustained Energy for breakfast helps to wake me up in the morning and keep me from snacking so much because it truly is filling.

My first smoothie was made with the Vanilla Bean flavor along with a banana, strawberries, almond milk and spinach! Yes, spinach. I love me a green smoothie and my stomach always needs an easily digestible veggie option 🙂 You can’t even taste it!

Next I had to recreate my Coconut Almond Chocolate Banana smoothie using the Chocolate Velvet flavor. Oh my yum! This is an excellent meal replacement smoothie because it’s a bit heartier with more calories, protein, fiber and the coconut butter added a lot of added nutrients! Take a look at the recipe and try it, you won’t regret it. {It would also be a great post workout recovery drink!}

Here are my overall thoughts on Designer Whey’s sustained energy product:

  • Flavor: Delicious! Both flavors have tasted great in each recipe I used them in. They’re also good mixed with almond milk {or your choice of milk product}
  • Texture: Smooth in all smoothies I make. A little gritty when mixed solely with milk.
  • Mixability: Great! I’m not sure if that’s a word, but it mixes very well. I used a Blender bottle when mixing with milk to ensure the clumps are removed. I would recommend putting it into your blender {when making smoothies} after the milk or water so it doesn’t get stuck to the sides which causes clumps!
  • Energy: Tons! I am a firm believer that protein in the morning is a sure way to start your day right. It keeps you feeling fuller, longer and gives you that extra boost you need to get going.
Guess what? You can also used the Designer Whey product in other recipes! I added a scoop and a half to my pancake recipe for a little extra protein in a household staple. This time I was actually making breakfast for dinner, so this was a great way for me to get more protein since I cannot eat eggs plain! Full recipe coming soon.

It gets better! Those of you that have made it to the end of the post, you may be able to try out Designer Whey Sustained Energy too! Better yet, it’s super easy to enter. Just leave a comment saying which flavor you would like to try: Chocolate Velvet or Vanilla Bean. On Friday, I’ll pick the winners and Designer Whey will send you their product! You’ll also have the opportunity to get a $10 off coupon to purchase your next can!

So what flavor would you want to try?
Do you currently use protein powder? In what ways?
