It’s boot and chaps…

It’s cowboys hat. It’s the spurs and the latigo. It’s the ropes and the reign, and the joy and the pain. And they call the thing rodeo. It’s the broncs and the blood. It’s the steers and the mud. And they call the thing RODEO!

Thank you, thank you, just call me Garth Brooks. Seriously though, well put Garth. This song definitely captures a rodeo, but nothing…I mean nothing compares to Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. It is awesome and an event that pretty much every Houstonian looks forward to at this time of year. Can you tell that I’m a big fan? Well I also happen to go on Saturday with my girl Kristin, but we’ll get to that a bit later 🙂

I’m linking up with Savannah and Carissa for Phone Photo Fun and Miscellany Monday! For a random recap of my rodeo weekend with iPhone pics included!

  • Kristin was able to get here early on Friday since her class was cancelled, so she managed to get all of her homework done while I finished up my busy day at work! Plus I got to see her for longer…how perfect is that?
  • On Thursday, one of our friends from college, told us that he had to move…on Monday. MONDAY? That’s only 5 days away! Luckily is only a 6 month assignment, but it’s up in the middle of nowhere, practically Oklahoma, Vernon, Texas. Boo that. We clearly needed to celebrate his last weekend in town and oh boy did we. Started off at Yard House in City Center for dinner and drinks, then made our way to Mona Lisa Bar. I had never been there, but it was a cool bar attached to a nice hotel. We were able to go outside by the pool and our group hung out under a cute little cabana! I definitely recommend it!
  • 2 Words to describe me: Big Dumb. Left my clutch at the bar. Let’s just say that the hubs was NOT happy. Luckily, no one took it or anything inside and I was able to get it back.
  • Thank goodness I have a husband to keep an eye on me 🙂
  • Saturday was beautiful and we spent a good chunk of the day outside, then it was off to rodeo!
1. Official Rodeo Cup 2. Ready for Luke Bryan 3. Fireworks! {All courtesy of my iPhone}

  • We saw Luke Bryan and he was an amazing performer. Seriously amazing. Not sure if you know who Luke Bryan is? He’s a country artist who is easy on the eyes. A few of his songs are All My Friends Say, Rain is a Good Thing, and Country Girl (Shake it for me)
  • Sunday was an outside kind of day! We tried a new brunch spot called Empire Cafe. It was amazing and there is plenty of patio seating! Highly recommend it.
  • After brunch and a trip to the mall, Kristin was on her way back to Dallas.
  • The hubs and I decided to take out pup on a little adventure in the great outdoors, so to Buffalo Bayou it was!
1. Fountain at Buffalo Bayou 2. Maggie trying to get outside 3. The hubs and the pup, my two greatest loves {All courtesy of my iPhone}
  • As you can see above in the middle picture, little Miss Maggie was determined to get outside. Being good parents, we obliged.
  • After our walk, I was feeling kind of antsy with a lot of energy, so I took off on a 3.75 mile run and averaged an 8:40 pace. Not too shabby!
  • The weekend wrapped up with painting a dining room wall, dinner at California Pizza Kitchen and snuggling with my hubby watching Iron Man 2. Not a bad weekend!
What did you do this weekend? Anything exciting or just a relaxing time at home? {We all need it!} Hope your Monday is kicking off alright! Here’s to the start of a new week! Tomorrow I’ll wrap up my Disney trip series and trust me, you don’t want to miss this!
Until next time…
With love and God bless,
