Two Weeks Notice

Remember yesterday when I was excited and fell down the stairs? Well now I get to let y’all in on a little secret I’ve been dying to tell y’all! Two weeks ago, I handed my boss a letter on a piece of paper stating my two weeks notice. Yes, I did it. I’m really taking a leap of faith to move forward with my career dreams. I’m not sure how I got to this point, but I’m making it happen.

To say that this is a huge stepping stone in my life would be a severe understatement. I’m literally taking a new path and pursuing what makes me happy. I’ve talked about being patient, finding balance and figuring Amy out a lot over the past few months. I did some soul searching and I’ve found peace.

It all started in June when I went to get a membership at a gym and ended up getting hired by said gym a week later to teach group exercise. Hello awesome! Then I knew I had to just keep going. I started studying for the NASM personal training certification in June. I’m still studying and have not taken my test. Nor do I plan to tell you when I will because then there will be even more pressure and humiliation if I do pass. I intend to pass {obviously} but I’m still nervous. That being said, I’m leaving completely jobless. Guess what? I’m okay with that. I became unhappy a few months ago and it’s been changing how I treat others, how I treat myself, my relationships, and so much more. And you probably guessed that this change was not good. I didn’t originally intend to leave this soon, but I believe it was for the best and I couldn’t be more excited about what’s to come!

So the next several weeks are going to be dedicated to studying, working out, studying, Dallas Mania, studying, getting things I’ve intended to get done done, studying, half and marathon training and eventually taking the test. I’m pumped. So in honor of all this awesomeness, here are 5 things I’m happy about this Friday!

1. Good bye old job, hello new career!

2. Emily is moving to Austin!

I’m sad that she won’t be so close and we can’t do sister dinners on a random Thursday, but I’m beyond proud of her. We’re moving her in this weekend…road trip!!! Then she starts school at the end of the month! She’s a total rockstar.

My best friend. Corpus after her graduation from college May 2012

3. This awesomeness Ashley sent me from Buzzfeed.

Why working from home is awesome. It’s Buzzfeed so you know you’re going to laugh.

4. I’m running another 5K this weekend!

Training has been going pretty well considering the miserable heat. Tomorrow I’m signed up for the Lazy, Hazy, Crazy Days of Summer 5K put on by my running group, Runner’s High! Chandra and I plan to run to the race to get some extra miles in beforehand. Then we’ll meet up with JP, Tyler and Ashley! 5Ks are fun and who doesn’t love getting a t-shirt and fun party with food and drinks after you run?! Makes running way better if you ask me! If you’re in Houston and want to run, it’s not to late! Sign up now or day of the race 🙂

5. Oh hey, did you notice something different around here?

Yeah, I told you that today was a super exciting day! Along with leaving my job, I’m giving this little blog of mine a complete and total makeover. Erin over at Love, Fun and Football {who you’ve seen around these parts before} is totally awesome and she has created this amazing new design for me! {If you need a blog refresh, go see her! She’s done some great work!}And I’m sure you noticed that I had a name change. I talked about changing it several months ago and didn’t know what to do. Well I figured it out and it has a lot of meaning behind it which I can’t wait to share with y’all next week!

I hope y’all have an awesome Friday and a wonderful weekend. I know that I will! See you lovelies on Monday!

Have you ever quit a job or completely changed careers?

Until next time…
With love and God bless,

Sharing is caring!
