30 Days of Commitment Challenge: August

HELLLOOOO AUGUST! To say that I am thrilled to see you would be an understatement. A few reasons:

  1. I can now say that next month is my birth month.
  2. Aggie football starts this month! WHOOP!!!
  3. Big and awesome things are about to happen with my blog.
  4. Even bigger and awesomer things are about to happen in my life!
  5. August starts with A and so does A and Awesome. I like A’s.

Reasons I’m not excited about August:

  1. I have to have a root canal today.
  2. Yup. That’s it. I’m terrified and in pain. Not a good combo.
Well, that’s the only reason I can think of not to be excited about August.

I’m also pretty pumped about my challenge this month. Okay, I’m not all that pumped, but I know my bank account will be.

That’s right, no online shopping. YIKES! Now I know that some people don’t really care for online shopping at all, but I love it. It’s so easy and I have Amazon Prime. Oh well, this will just get me up and out of my chair for something that I absolutely need!

Recap of my July goals:
  • Eat gluten free! A cheat here and there is okay.
  • Take at least 2 recipes with gluten and turn them into gluten free recipes! I’ll share them on the blog!
  • Try at least new GF recipes and recap how they turned out!
  • Follow me on my Going Gluten Free Pinterest board!

How I did…

  • I did okay. I followed about a 70-30 rule as opposed to my usually 50-50. That is about 70% gluten free and 30% not.
  • Did it! I haven’t shared them on the blog though. I turned my 4th of July pizza cookie into a GF recipe and I made some amazing GF almond and banana muffins. I promise I’ll share those soon!
  • I did make a deliciously random smoothie recipe which is GF! Check it out!
  • I also recreated my GF, clean eating spaghetti!

Overall
I give myself a C. I didn’t do as well this month as I would have liked, but such is life. Luckily a GF lifestyle is not necessary for me. With my tummy issues, some days the only thing that sounds remotely appetizing is chicken noodle soup or grilled cheese. I’m good at keeping those down and honestly, both have gluten! I think I’ll stick with my 70-30 rule though. If I can have something similar without gluten, why not!

Here’s how I plan to be successful in August:
  • Short and Sweet: don’t buy anything online for 30 days.
  • It’s only 30 days. I’ll probably miss a sale or two, but I’ll survive.
  • I plan on deleting sale/deal e-mails instead of looking at them. {I usually don’t buy things, but I will look around *just in case* occasionally!}

Wanna join in this month?! It’s a great way to save a few dollars here and there. Looks like I’ll need those dollars after I pay for this nasty root canal today! YIKES! Oh well, such is life. I hope y’all have a better Thursday then I’m about to have! That should be pretty easy 🙂

And don’t forget to enter my giveaway! A Nathan handheld water bottle is up for grabs through tomorrow! It’s perfect for your hot summer workouts!

Are you going to join in on this month’s challenge?
What online shop would be the most difficult for you to avoid? Amazon is going to be so hard for me! I love Amazon Prime so much!

Until next time…
With love and God bless,

Sharing is caring!
