Fabulous Fitness Survey

So I saw this on Tina and Julie’s blogs and I had to play along!

1. What did you eat for breakfast?

Van’s Gluten Free Blueberry Waffles with Justin’s Almond Butter. Hello yum…

2. How much water do you drink a day?

A lot. Close to 15 cups a day most days. Sometimes more.

3. What is your current favorite workout?

I’m loving my strength classes! I’ve been subbing some on Monday’s & Friday’s and attending the classes when I’m not teaching. I feel like it’s really starting to help my running, so yay boot camp style group exercise!

Here’s one of my favorite boot camp style workouts you can do at home with no weights!

4. How many calories do you eat a day?

It depends. On average I’d say about 1,800. Easily closer to 2,000 on the weekends. Especially if booze is involved. That my friends is why I workout on the weekends 🙂

5. What are your favorite healthy snacks?

Almonds, almond butter, fruit {strawberries, watermelon and pears are my current faves}, Larabars, carrots and hummus, smoothies, Chex ceral (the new vanilla is delish!)

6. What do you usually eat for lunch?

I usually have a PB & Banana sandwich with carrots or a smoothie or left overs from the night before. I’m also a big fan of my “taco bags” thanks to my friend Sara! It’s super easy and you can make a big batch, separate into baggies and freeze! Here’s what you need:

1 lb ground turkey
1 cup unshelled edamame
1 cup quinoa (before cooking)
1 packet taco seasoning
4 quart sized baggies

Brown your turkey on the stove.
Cook quinoa according to the package.
Heat edamame according to package (I used some Trader Joe’s unshelled and just heated them in the microwave)
Season turkey with taco seasoning
Get your baggies and put 1/4 cup of edamame, 1/2 cup cooked quinoa and 4 oz (about 1/4 of the turkey) into your baggie.
Place baggies in the freezer.
Heat for 2-3 minutes when ready and enjoy!

**You can sub rice for quinoa and ground beef for turkey! I can’t eat those so I changed it up a bit. Pick your pleasure!

7. What is your favorite body part to strength train?

Definitely legs. I need strong legs for running!

8. What is your least favorite body part to strength train?

Core. I wish I liked it more, but with all my tummy troubles it kind of sucks. I have to get my core done in the morning or it probably won’t happen.

9. What are your “bad” food cravings?

Pizza, cookies, ice cream…I love them. I have the worst sweet tooth ever, but I try to satisfy it in moderation. I usually don’t eliminate it from my diet because I want it more

10. Do you take vitamins or supplements?

Yup! Love my prenatal gummies!

11. How often do you eat out?

A few times a week. Usually once for lunch during the week, once {or twice} for dinner during the week and once on the weekends!

12. Do you eat fast food?

Yes, but only Chick fil a, Subway, Panera Bread and Wendy’s {if we’re road trippin’}

13. Who is your biggest supporter?

I’m so lucky to have a wonderful family that supports me in everything I do and every endeavor I take on. I would say that JP is definitely my biggest supporter if I had to chose one. Not only has he been to countless races, he has sat out in the Houston humidity to watch me run a half I signed up for just days in advance and he’s trained and completed 3 half marathons for me. I needed his support while I trained for the full, so he trained for and ran the half just so we’d both be up and running early each Saturday morning. That is an amazing husband right there my friends!

Post Rock ‘n Roll Philly. His very first half that he ran for my birthday 🙂

14. Do you have a gym membership?

I had one, but now that I’m working at the gym {teaching group ex} my membership is free!

15. How many hours of sleep do you get a night?

7-8 on most nights. I’m a early to bed early to rise kind of gal. Some people call that old 🙂

16. Do you have a “cheat”day?

Not really. I usually eat what I want in moderation. I don’t drink much during the week and allow myself to on the weekends. Especially if a pool or tailgate is involved. I would say that my motto is that I workout so that I can eat what I want. Luckily I prefer healthy foods most of the time!

17. Do you drink alcohol?

Oh yes!

18. Do you have a workout buddy?

For the most part, I work out alone, unless you count my trainer or my students in class!
As far as running goes, my running buddy Chandra was out for a while with a hip injury. She can’t do long distances, but we’re back to going short runs together during the week! Come August, I’ll be training for the Houston Marathon with my running club, Runner’s High. Come join!!!

My biggest supporter on the right & training buddy on the left. I’m a lucky girl!

19. What is the best thing that has changed about your life since committing to a healthy lifestyle?

I feel more alive and happy with my body! I’ve always been active, but once making a true commitment as an adult, I feel like my life has changed for the best. I’ve found something that I love and I’m passionate about! And let’s not forget that positive emotions lead to better quality of life. It’s an awesome circle that keeps giving.

20. What was the last healthy thing you did?

I worked out this morning. Does that count? 30 minutes of upper body with my trainer and a 30 minute treadmill run {3.45 miles}

Until next time…
With love and God bless,

Amy Signature
