As you surf through the blog world and start to find blogs and people that you love, you can’t help but wonder “why did he/she start blogging?” If you think about it, there is a story behind every blog’s beginning. There’s also another story behind every blog’s continuation! Here’s mine…
The beginnings of A Glimpse of the Gouglers
This little blog of mine started on January 16, 2011. We officially landed in Pittsburgh, PA on January 12th, the city we would call home for the next year. Before then, JP and I hadn’t lived further than 100 miles away from our families so this was a big deal.
Here was my very first post! It didn’t have many views, I wasn’t linking up and I didn’t really know if many people would read it, but it was out there. After only a few days in Pittsburgh, I knew I was going to have so many stories and fun experiences that I wanted to share with everyone back in Texas. I was working from home and on the phone a lot so after work, calling up everyone to chat and tell stories wasn’t on my list of things to do. So all in all, I created my blog to share my life with my loved ones. Hence the name, A Glimpse of the Gouglers. I wanted my family to have a “glimpse” into our life up north! It was also a way for me to take more pictures, document our life events and have a scrapbook of our lives so to speak. I like to think it has done just that.
Finding the blog world
In August 2011, I started to realize how much more was out there in the blog world. Don’t ask me why it took me this long, but I didn’t really look into it much. I joined my first link up with this post! Gotta love What I’m Loving Wednesdays! I didn’t get the concept at first, but luckily I was able to figure it out thanks to my girl LJ 🙂 Eventually I discovered Pinterest and how to get rid of my no-reply blogger status.
As time has gone on, my blog has evolved. It’s still a place for me to tell stories and recap my journey through life, but it’s become so much more. It’s a place for me to write and put myself out there. I love to write and I love to be me. This is a place where I can do both and not be judged. Okay, people probably judge me, but I don’t care. Not too much at least.
Finding my niche
Though I would still consider myself a lifestyle blogger, I’m trying to incorporate more health and fitness into my blog because that’s what I’m passionate about. I run a lot, I try to eat healthy and I love coming up with a new workout. Since that’s what I love, that’s what I blog about. I think this little blog has evolved quite a bit over the past 2 1/2 years. I’ve grown as a person and a writer because of it. It’s my little corner of the world wide web. I may not be the most popular blogger or have the best blog design or even the best content/writing skills. All that matters is that it’s mine.
So tell me, why did you start blogging?
Has your blog changed since its early days?
