Free Outdoor Scavenger Hunts for Toddlers, Preschoolers, and Elementary Kids

All you need for these outdoor scavenger hunts are a printer and some plain paper to print them off, and a pen to check every item on the list. If you want to make any hunt a photo hunt, grab a camera to take some pictures too! There are some awesome cameras for kids out there are reasonable prices if you’re not willing to hand of your phone or nice camera!

Toddler Nature Scavenger Hunt

Ready to send your little tot running? This toddler scavenger hunt printable has images to let them know what to start looking for without any help. It’s the “do it myself” phase after all!

There are 16 different pictures of things they can find in their backyard, at the park or on a walk outside. Keep their little minds busy and growing with this outdoor scavenger hunt!

Playground Scavenger Hunt

Print this out before your next trip to the playground or local park! The playground outdoor scavenger hunt for kids has lots of items that you’ll likely only find at a playground. It changes things up a bit from a typical nature or backyard scavenger hunt.

If you want to spice the game up for older kids, have them run (or race) to the different items you call out. It will make this outdoor scavenger hunt a little more physically active if simply finding the items is too easy. For example, get the kids to one side of the playground, then call out “spiral slide!” Watch them race to the spiral slide and give a point to whoever gets there first.

This final outdoor scavenger hunt is for kids of all ages and you can make it easier or more difficult based on their age. Here are the different ways to play.

Toddlers – Help them find different things from outside that start with all the different letters of the alphabet. Focus on the starting letter and reiterate it’s sound!

Early Elementary – Send them out to find something that starts with every letter of the alphabet. Let them practice sounding out and writing each word.

Late Elementary – Same as above, but let them take photos of each of the items!

  2. These outdoor scavenger hunt printables are so so cute!! I love that you included different ones for different age groups too. My little guy is definitely in that ‘ I do it myself’ phase so the picture scavenger hunt is absolutely perfect for us. I’m gonna use this on our next walk around the neighborhood. A great way to mix things up 🙂
