The Dress Dilemma: Finding ‘The One’

First things first, I wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone for wishing the hubs and I a happy anniversary. It was just perfect and I’m so thankful to be celebrating 3 years of marriage with such a wonderful man.

Now let’s get down to business {to defeat, the Huns. Did they send me daughters, when I asked for sons?}. This little blog of mine didn’t exist on the interwebs when I was wedding planning. In fact, it didn’t pop up until a few months before our one year anniversary! That being said, there are a lot of things I haven’t documented and quite frankly, I think it’s worth a blast to the past just to see some of these pictures 🙂

Today is all about finding the dress. Anyone watch Say Yes to the Dress on TLC? Gah, I love that show. Even though I’m married and won’t be again, I still enjoy watching women find their dream dress. So here is a blast to the past. We’re setting the time machine to April 10, 2009, exactly one year before my wedding. This was 4 years ago y’all! So without further ado…

Bridal Trial and Error

In order to get to the one, you’re probably going to have to try on a few dresses. I didn’t try on too many. I did go to 3 different stores though. When trying on dresses, it’s important to figure out what you like and don’t like. I knew going into it that I wanted a princess dress. I don’t care how cliche it is, that is all I wanted. So let’s take a look at some of the dresses I went through to get to the one!
{Pictures are unedited and kind of random. Not all dresses tried on are shown.}

Not always, but sometimes there is a dress that you try on that you think could be the one. This happened to me. The dress below is stunning, I loved it, but wasn’t completely sure. The beadwork is phenomenal.

Could this be the one?
Luckily, to clear things up, the next dress made my heart flutter. Something about the simplicity and poofiness got to me.

Just a few more…
Of course, you can never be too sure and you don’t want to just assume that’s the one when you’re in a warehouse of gorgeous dresses! So you try on a few more just to be safe.

Then you realize that your heart was set from the moment you tried that dress on.
And you get excited, do a happy dance with your sister and you BFF Nikki somehow captures an awesome picture of you like this. But it’s okay because you found the one!

Oh and no bridal appointment is complete without bloopers! Especially when you’re dealing with a goofball like myself. You just can’t take yourself too seriously!

Bridal Bloopers!
aka I’m a really cool person who chooses to take pictures like this.

Why yes, I’m attempting to pose like a model in the bottom right. Can’t you tell? Should I sent it in to Vouge? {It kind of looks like I have stomach cramps or something…}

So I’m cool. This is clear. I also have a problem where I randomly grab my boobs. Not normal? Oh well.

So there you have it! The many dresses I tried on to find the one! In the end, I tried on about 6 dresses at Store One, 4 dresses at Store Two and 5 dresses at Store Three {and 3 of them were after I found the one!} If you think about how many wedding gowns there are in the world, trying on fifteen total isn’t too many if you ask me. I still love my dress and I’m trying to figure out a way to wear it again. I may be talking the hubs into getting more portraits done of us since we didn’t get too many on our wedding day. Any photographers out there interested in putting up with me?  🙂

Have you tried on wedding dresses yet? What was your favorite part?
How many did it take you to find the one?

Until next time…
With love and God bless,

Sharing is caring!
