Life Lately: September Edition

It’s been a while so it’s time for another edition of Life Lately! This is where I blabber on about what’s been going on in my world, share some fun details and clue you in on what’s coming up. Why? Because I can. Plus I like to think that there are people out there actually interested in what’s happening in my corner of the world.

Life Lately Letterboard

Lately I’ve been…

…reading The Spy and the Traitor by Ben Macintyre. This was our pick for last month’s book club. I’m about halfway through and highly recommend it! It’s about espionage during the Cold War and I’m a sucker for a good historical fiction.

…listening to Taylor Swift’s new CD! Chloe is obsessed and it makes me so happy. She walks around singing Paper Rings all the time! I needed a break from Bible School songs, Trolls and Lion King on repeat, so at least I got something else added to her current favorite list!

As far as Podcasts go, I just finished Culpable and I was hooked from the get go. The story is sad yet captivating and I’m looking forward to some updates as they learn more. I also finished Over My Dead Body: Joe Exotic. That one was pretty good too. Just a 7 episode season, but it takes you on a wild ride. My current go tos are Crime Junkie, The Birth Hour, My Dad Wrote a Porno and The Ali on the Run Show.

I wrote up a post with a lot of my favorite podcasts a few months back that you should check out if you’re looking for something new or interested in starting some podcasts!

…watching The Great British Baking Show! It’s back on Netflix and if you haven’t seen it, you should watch it. It’s strangely addicting. I also convinced JP to start watching Outlander since we went to Scotland, so I’m rewatching with him. We’re also on Season 2 of The Americans and we’re eagerly awaiting the next season of Jack Ryan. I pretty much only have time to watch TV after the kids go to bed, so one show a night because I’m not far behind them!

Lately I've been thinking about all the things on my ever growing to do list!

…thinking about all the things on my to do list for the next week. The next month really! If I thought September was a busy month, October is proving to be twice as crazy. I’m okay with that because it involves two big trips, a couple of showers, more Aggie football and lots of fun!

…looking forward to our upcoming Disney trip! We leave on Wednesday and I couldn’t be more excited. This time I’m taking Chloe and meeting up with our besties Ali and Renee! The girls are going to freak out. We’re staying at the Contemporary right on the monorail, going to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and spending out days at Magic Kingdom and Epcot. To top it off, it’s also Food and Wine Festival! Stay tuned to my Instagram or Facebook Group for all my pictures and updates!

Meeting Mickey Mouse at Epcot - Walt Disney World!

Here’s a picture from Chloe’s last trip to Disney World almost 3 years ago exactly! We went to Mickey’s Not So Scary with Julie! Since then she’s been to Disneyland and Disneyland Paris. I have a feeling this trip is going to be the best one yet!

…working out a lot. In case you haven’t heard, I’m training for the runDisney Dopey Challenge so I’ve been running all the time. 3-4 runs per week with a long run every weekend. I’m already up to 15 miles!

I’ve also been getting my strength workouts in to supplement my runs! Here are a few of my latest favorites in case you’re looking for a new one to try!

…wishing I had someone who picked up and cleaned my house every day for me. I feel like add I do is clean up the chaos that my tiny humans leave. Now that Brody is walking everywhere, he’s into everything. Literally everything. Nothing can be on a shelf, in a box or stored in a cabinet. It must all be laid out on the floor for him to trip over and throw.

…ready for cooler weather. It’s officially fall and it’s just so darn hot and humid. I want to actually spend time outside, but it’s miserable! Constantly complaining about the weather isn’t going to make it cooler, but enough is enough. I wish Houston has some semblance of fall. Since I can’t make cooler weather appear, here’s something that will at least put a smile on your face! My sweet babies last Thanksgiving.

Sweet siblings at Thanksgiving

…happy that tomorrow is my birthday! Everything has been flying by since the end of July since we’ve been in constant go mode, so it really snuck up on me. I’m looking forward to relaxing by my parents’ pool, sipping mimosas and watching the Aggie football game with my people!

That’s a wrap!

There you have it, that’s what life lately has looked like around here plus a peek at what’s to come. We have a busy month ahead of us including a Disney trip, couple’s shower, lots of running, Aggie football, a baby shower, more running, a cruise and Halloween. Stay tuned for a lot of crazy and all the fun.

  1. Ahh you need to check out the Generation Why podcast! It’s a recent favorite of mine – it’s true crime and like they go through conspiracy theories, evidence, and their own theories on cases. It’s really good! Excited to hear more about your Disney trip coming up!

    1. I haven’t heard of that one! Definitely adding it to my list now because I need some more good ones. Don’t worry, lot’s of Disney will be shared. I can’t wait!
