Friday Favorites: Disney Eats

It’s Friday yet again…and this Friday, it’s March! January seemed like the longest month ever, and then February flew by in the blink of an eye. Today I’m sharing with y’all, some of the delicious places that we ate at on our Disney adventure! My friend Rachael is a Disney pro as well as vacation planner {Let me know if you’re planning a trip and I can took your up!} and she introduced us to some amazing restaurants this year.

Disney Springs
The Edison

This is a new restaurant in Disney Springs. If it’s been a long time since you’ve been to Disney, Disney Springs is the newly renovated and reinvented Downtown Disney. They’ve added more shopping and more restaurants. Rachael heard good this about this place and it didn’t disappoint. It has a swanky 1920’s prohibition, hidden bar kind of feel. They’re known mostly for their specialty drink selection.

I decided to order the Edison burger and it was so delicious. It comes with cheese, onion rings, bacon, pickles, lettuce, tomatoes and a special sauce. I decided to forego the cheese and bacon since it’s not my cup of tea.

Our overall experience was pretty good. The service was a little slow and they were definitely working out some kinks in the kitchen. I think it has a lot of potential to be a great restaurant. It’s worth a try if you’re in Disney Spring!

Animal Kingdom

I had the chopped wood-grilled chicken bowl. This was AMAZING and I would go back in a heartbeat. You get to choose your base and sauce. I had the potato and sweet potato hash base with a chimichurri sauce. It was flavorful and more than enough food. They have several other options to choose from as well. It’s also over in the new Pandora area, so you can explore the new surroundings afterwards and maybe even hop on the new ride!

Last year, Julie and Ali got these amazing looking ice cream cookie sandwiches from Tamu Tamu Refreshments and I was so jealous. They looked and tasted delicious! This year, I was getting one no matter what! It was a great afternoon snack for this pregnant lady. It gave us a chance to sit down in the shade and rest our feet while we enjoyed a tasty treat. You can also get Dole Whip here!

Tiffins was our fancy dinner! This restaurant is reservations only and completely worth it. It’s a little more expensive, but the food is unique and flavors are delicious. Since we had an afternoon snack and our dinner reservations were early, I wasn’t starving. Instead of getting an entree, I thought a couple of appetizers were right for me. I ordered the apple-walnut salad and butternut squash soup. Both completely hit the spot.

Aside from the food, the restaurant was beautifully decorated and the service was superb. It was my favorite dining experience from the whole weekend.

Magic Kingdom
Be Our Guest
Jungle Skipper Canteen

We ate lunch at the Beast’s Castle! Lunch at Be Our Guest is by reservations, but it is quick service, not a sit down dinner. You go in, wait in line to order your food, then they bring it to your table. There are 3 different rooms for you to eat in, and I highly recommend trying to get a table in the West Wing! We were able to get in there and it was a fun experience with the “storms”. Be sure to look at the prince’s portrait when a storm rolls through!

I ordered the carved turkey sandwich and it wasn’t anything spectacular, but it hit the spot. I also HAD to try the gray stuff! The Master’s Cupcake had gray stuff on to and I am pleased to say that Lumiere is right, it’s delicious!

We had dinner reservations at Jungle Skipper Canteen over in Adventureland! The wait staff continues on with the corny jokes that are dished out during the Jungle Cruise ride.

I had the Perkins Thai Noodles. They have a spicy soy chili garlic sauce that gave it an extra kick. They had a little spice, but not too much. There was chicken, tofu, bell peppers, zucchini, onions and some other veggies tossed in there. I’m not much of a tofu person, but this was flavored very well and I enjoyed it!

Epcot
Akershus Royal Banquet Hall
Via Napoli

I’ve eaten at Akershus before and it never disappoints! This restaurant is in Norway at Epcot and is reservations only because this is where they do the princess dining. You start with an appetizer buffet with several options to introduce you to Norwegian cuisine. For my main course, I had the salmon duo with grilled salmon and a salmon cake and a potato and brussels sprout hash on the side. It was so good. The salmon cake was by far my favorite and I wish it was bigger! Ali had the Norwegian meatballs and Rachael the braised pork shank. The meal is wrapped up with a dessert trio for the party to share! There was an apple cinnamon bread with caramel, frozen chocolate mousse cake and a rice pudding.

Everything was delicious and we were so full! The best part of the entire meal was meeting all of the princesses! I’ll share more when I recap our Epcot day, but here’s a peek at me and Cindy!

For dinner we hopped over to Italy! We had reservations at Via Napoli and if you’ve never eaten here while at Disney, go ahead and make reservations for your next trip. It is literally mouth watering. We were definitely HUNGRY when we arrived and ready to eat. I’m sad to say that not a single picture was snapped of my food because I was too excited to eat it the second it was placed on my table. #pregnantladyproblems

Ali and I decided to share the Arancini to start and a small Carciofi pizza. It was a white pizza with artichoke, fontina, mozzarella and truffle oil. The pizza was so good I would eat it again and again. The crust was divine and they actually import the flour and water from Naples, Italy!

If you want another non-Italian option for dinner in Epcot, I highly recommend Spice Road Table in Morocco! I have yet to try something there that I didn’t like! The tapas are amazing and the sparkling sangria is life changing. Just do it.

Food is an important part of every Disney experience, so make sure you do it right! There are so many different options out there, so go through the website and look at the menus beforehand to see where you may like to go. I highly recommend making reservations at the sit down restaurants which is something we haven’t done in the past.

If you have any questions about restaurant, dining or anything Disney related, shoot me a message! I’d love to help you and if I don’t know the answer, I guarantee you that I know someone who does.

Happy Friday y’all! I’ll be back next week with my first Disney day recap and my FIRST bump date covering the first trimester!
