To Persevere

Perseverance: noun, steady persistence in a course of action, a purpose, a state, etc., especially in spite of difficulties, obstacles, or discouragement. (source)

The other day, something inside me sparked the desire to find a good quote on perseverance. There was no true particular reason involved, but I was inclined to do so. It didn’t take me long at all to find several that I felt spoke to me.

“On the mountains of truth you can never climb in vain: either you will reach a point higher up today, or you will be training your powers so that you will be able to climb higher tomorrow.”
Friedrich Nietzsche

“People of mediocre ability sometimes achieve outstanding success because they don’t know when to quit. Most men succeed because they are determined to.” George E. Allen

“All great masters are chiefly distinguished by the power of adding a second, a third, and perhaps a fourth step in a continuous line. Many a man has taken the first step. With every additional step you enhance immensely the value of your first.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” Winston Churchill

“For a righteous man falls seven times, and rises again.” [Proverbs 24:16] Bible

“Perseverance is not a long race; it is many short races one after another.” Walter Elliott

Sometimes we all just have to remember to persevere, to push through. We all come across tough times and perseverance is a necessity. It’s not that my life is incredibly tough by any means. I am beyond fortunate and so blessed to be where I am, but at the same time right now, there are potential tough times ahead. Key word: potential. I know that perseverance is the key to success and staying strong. The other key is to eliminate stress and go with the flow. I guess if you put that together, it means to push with the flow? Hmmm…okay how about this instead: just remember, “when the going gets tough, the tough get going.” {Thanks Billy Ocean} Push through and persevere. You’re stronger than you think.

Until next time…
With love and God bless,
