Snips and Snails and Puppy Dogs’ Tails…

That’s what little boys are made of! And I suspect that little mister Charlie will be all boy! Who is Charlie you ask? In case you joined in recently, my best friend is having a baby boy and clearly, his name is Charlie. Michael Charlie to be exact. I’ve been planning the baby shower on Pinterest since probably April and everything finally came together this past Saturday. It was perfect. I couldn’t have asked for a better turn out.  Want to see what it looked like?

The theme of the the shower was The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. Hence the picture and quote at the bottom of the invite. In case you can’t read it clearly, it says, “and she loved a little boy very, very much – even more than she loved herself.” Even though it’s referring to the tree, it perfectly mirrors a mother’s love.

The colors of the shower were primarily green with a little bit of blue to accent. He is going to be a boy after all!

The Giving Tree table! I printed the quote from the invite and framed it, ordered the book from Amazon and my mom made the little sock bundle decoration!

Since Shel Silverstein has several collections of stories and poems, I decided to order Where the Sidewalk Ends and A Light in the Attic. I figured it would be perfect decor and Andrea can read stories to Charlie!
Now what’s a shower without a candy bar?!?

Sorry for the flash. I’m still not cool enough to have a super fancy camera 🙂
We had all sorts of goodies from Almond Joy pieces, mint M&Ms, Sour Punch Straws, Nerd Ropes, Jelly Bellies, you name it!

We used the empty bottles on the left to fill with candy as a sweet little gift to take away from the shower!

“Grab a drink and toast to Mom”

Mimosa Bar!

We had Cranberry, Orange and Red Orange Juice to mix with champagne! Oh and a few vodka soaked gummies to go along with it 🙂
If the candy bar wasn’t enough, desserts consisted of red velvet cupcakes made by Crave Cupcakes here in Houston {they are AMAZING} and chocolate & funfetti cake balls courtesy of Emily Timmer, Andrea Soule and Amy Gougler.

I didn’t get to snap any pictures of the appetizers before we started digging in!

For dinner, everything was mini! We went with 3 different types of sliders: beef, turkey and grilled chicken!

Can’t have burgers without french fries!

Fruit salad, Buffalo chicken dip, Tortellini pasta bites, Mexican 7 layer dip, Veggie Tray

Presents!

Baby clothes line – Bibs and onesies were from me! The little hats from my mom, shark mitt from Kate and footie jammies from Emily!

L to R: Nicole – Kate – Jody – Andrea – Jenny
Charlie’s Wishing Tree – I took 2 sparkly branches and placed them in a vase to create what kind of looks like a Charlie Brown Christmas tree. Then I cut up pieces of scrapbook paper for everyone to write wishes, hopes and prayers for baby Charlie.

Even though Kristin couldn’t make it, she sent Andrea’s present home with me after my visit to see her in Dallas the weekend before! BTW…Andrea was SO excited about her Boppy!

Another present worth showing is this awesome Reveille outfit from Julie! Even though it won’t fit Charlie this Halloween, it’ll be perfect for next year!

You’re probably wondering…why an F? We had each of the guests decorate a letter (or two or three) of the alphabet to give to Andrea as decoration for Charlie’s room. We’re still missing a few letters, but I intend to bring them with me when I go visit Anne for Charlie’s birth! I’ll be sure to take a picture of all the letters then! It serves as a great memory from the shower and all the guests as well as a great decoration for the nursery!

I had to add a picture of the baby blanket that Julie made for Charlie. I helped pick out the fabric!

Not pictured: Donna – Jody – JP – Jim – Phil (we let the boys hang around, drink beer and cook for us!)

Like I said before, it was a wonderful shower! Mimosas were consumed, tons of delicious food was eaten and a great time was had by all. I’m not going to lie, I’m super proud of the turn out!

What do you think? Any other ideas that you have for a baby shower or something different that you’ve done? I’m sure I’ll be throwing another one at some point in my life. Maybe not soon, but definitely some time 🙂 I hope that some of you were able to get some ideas from my The Giving Tree themed baby shower!

Until next time…
With love and God bless,
