It’s Okay :)

It’s Okay…

…that I’ve already started counting down the days until football season. 63 days until Texas A&M plays LA Tech which is the start of the season to me!

via
…that I secretly want to plan a “sick day” from work and play hookie with the hubby. Too bad I don’t have the guts!
…to have lunch by myself at Starbucks on Tuesday and read Fifty Shades Darker the entire time 🙂

…that I keep a jar of peanut butter in my desk drawer at the office and packets in my purse. You never know when you’ll need it!
…that my kitchen looks like a tornado blew threw it and instead of cleaning I made brownies.

…that I have a crazy, psycho dog. I still love her.

…that I’m obsessed with Dance Moms, Pretty Little Liars, The Bachelorette and So You Think You Can Dance {and that my hubby watches them with me!}

…that I’m SO SO excited to see Magic Mike with Alison, Ashley and some other lovely ladies Sunday night!

…to wish it was 4pm on Friday so the hubs and I can head to Dallas for Kristin’s birthday weekend!

Sometimes you just have to look at your life and just think that “It’s Okay!” It’s safe to say that I don’t have too much to complain about right now. Life is good! God is good and I feel so blessed! Heading to Dallas this weekend to celebrate one of my oldest friend’s birthday. Andrea comes to Texas for a 5 day weekend Tuesday night. Wednesday is the 4th of July which we will celebrate in the Woodlands along with Chris and Julie. Next Saturday we get to shower Andrea and my future nephew, Charlie. Like I said, life is good! I’m working on not sweating the little things. Just need to remember that “It’s Okay!

I’m linking up with Neely and Amber!

Pinterest Finds and a Birthday Girl!

Happy Wednesday y’all! Today is my dear friend Kristin’s 25th birthday! You may remember Kristin from here, here, here or here! 25 years, a quarter of a century. You’re turning into an old woman lady 🙂 Just kidding! Especially since you are all of 3 months and a day older than me! Anywho…

Dear Kristin,
I love you so much and it’s hard to believe that I have known you since I was only 8 (almost 9) years old. It’s amazing to see how much we have changed and grown since then. I am so happy with the friendship that we have. Even though I moved away from Plano after 1.5 years, we remained friends. It was more difficult when we were younger as we relied on our parents to get us to one another, but as we got older it was our choice to stay friends or not. Here we are almost 17 years later (wow it will be 17 years in August!), as close as ever. The distance from Dallas to Houston still separates us (better than Pittsburgh to Dallas!), we still manage to see each other several times a year. I can’t believe that we’ve gone from little girls working on a lady bug project to grown, successful women with promising goals for our lives. I am so happy and blessed to have you as my friend. So here’s to the next 17 years of friendship! Let’s live it up these days because I’m not sure we’ll have as much energy when we’re 42! I love you and can’t wait to see you in just 2 days!

I love you KK Corn Pop! See you soon 🙂

Now for a few Pinterest obsessions. I’ll keep the words and my babbling to a minimum!

Gougler Gourmet

Do you ever feel like you end up with the same food in your kitchen week after week?

I don’t know about you, but I get a bit obsessive with my foods. I get fixated on something and then I decide that I need it over and over again. Then I get sick of it and forget about it for a while.

After a few months, I remember about said food/meal and bring it back into my kitchen. I guess my kitchen is a bit rotational, but for at least a month I have the same foods. In order to change things up a bit {esp. because we’ve been on an eating out kick}, I’ve decided to start meal planning in the Gougler household! I’ve dabbed at it once before, but never was able to stick with it. However, I have a good reason now. With all of my tummy issues and my new awareness of all the different foods that I can’t eat, I have to think even more about what I put into my body. I started eating healthy in 2008 and really enjoy eating healthy foods, but now I’m allergic to some of my healthy alternatives!

Let’s take a look at what this week looks like!

Sunday: White Bean Chili with Chicken
Monday: Stuffed Red Bell Peppers – with chicken (flavored with taco seasoning), black beans, corn, Rotel
Tuesday: Shrimp Etouffee – with quinoa and corn
Wednesday: Date Night
Thursday: Lasagna – with bread and green beans
Friday & Saturday: We’re in Dallas visiting Kristin for her birthday! So dinner is up to her 🙂

Like I said before, my kitchen rotates a bit. Let’s take a look into what I’m currently hoarding in my kitchen…

Current Kitchen Staples:
Peanut and Almond Butter – these have a steady appearance in my household all year round.

Fresh Fruit – currently bananas, watermelon, cantalope and plums

via

Spinach – spinach and fruit salad as well as green smoothies are a staple during the heat of the summer!

Spinach is rich in antioxidents and various vitamins. Use spinach in your salads (over iceburg lettuce)for additional nutrition and to your smoothies as well (you can’t even taste it!)

Popcorn – it’s the perfect low calorie and healthy snack!

Stick with the light butter or simply air popped popcorn. It’s easy to rack up the calories and fat when you add on the butter and sugar! Check out some of the health benefits!

Hummus – I love dipping veggies, pita chips and lentil chips in hummus! It’s delicious and adds some protein into my snack time…as well as some veggies! I also use it as a spread on sandwiches since I don’t like mayo and I am now allergic to mustard!

via – My favorite flavors are original and roasted red pepper!

What are the top 5 staples in your kitchen right now? Do you food faves/craves rotate throughout the year?

Until next time…
With love and God bless,

Motivation Monday: Support Systems

I don’t know if there is something in the air or what, but I am feeling fantastic on this Monday morning! I will admit that I wasn’t too fond of my alarm clock going off. I’ve been quite productive though: took Maggie on a walk, got ready, grabbed Starbucks, was at work by 7:25am and I’m ready to start the day!

Today’s motivation post is going to be a little bit different from usual. I really want to talk about having a good support system. I’ve always been active and fit from being active in cheerleading, dance and gymnastics my whole life. I like to believe that I began my true fitness journey when I began taking group exercise classes at the A&M Rec Center the very beginning of my junior year of college. I instantly fell in love with group exercise. I think it was a combination of the positive atmosphere, challenging workouts and connections with the instructor that really caught my attention. I always left class with a sense of accomplishment and on an endorphin high. After a few months, I decided to sign up for fitness instructor training and it truly changed my life.

Becoming an instructor was an eye opening experience for me. It made me want to change my eating and exercising behaviors. The more I learned, the more my interest was piqued and the more passionate I became. During training, I was able to become friends with other incoming fitness instructors which helped each of us grow. After I “graduated” from training, I was assigned “mentors” so to speak to help further my training in different class formats. For step, I was lucky enough to have DeAun, the head of the A&M fitness program, as my mentor. She seriously taught me everything I know about step and I like to think I’m pretty darn good at teaching it!

As I mentioned before, the became friends with the girls that I was training with and once we were official members of the A&M Group RecXercise team we bonded with the other wonderful women that had been teaching for a few years! I believe our bond is so strong because of the passions that we share. No matter how much time passes, once we’re together again, it’s as though time had simply stopped. Now let’s just to this weekend. My girls weekend was spent with my wonderful Group RecXercise loves! It had been wayyy too long since we had all been together, so a reunion weekend was a MUST. It began Friday night with a delicious dinner made by our host Sara followed by a few too many tasty drinks and a night out in Galveston!

All the girls who went out Friday night!

Gretchen – Ashley – me- Becky – Sara

Love my Jenny P…and Sara!

We were a little slow to start Saturday morning, but we still made it to the beach a little after 10am. Sara’s fiance helps out with beach chairs/umbrellas at a nice beach near their house on the weekends so we got umbrellas and chairs for free! The sun was very intense, so they came in handy. We spent several hours on the beach and in the water…love summertime!

Sangria!
Exhausted after about 5 hours in the sun, snuggling Sara’s sweet puppy Rezi! I’m in love with her and want her to be Maggie’s friend!

Saturday night we ventured out to dinner at Salt Lick Grill. I had a delicious salad with apples, feta and grilled shrimp (I had to nix the candied pecans since I can’t eat them anymore!) After dinner, we grabbed drinks at a pub next door and then went dancing again! We love to dance 🙂

Back: Gretchen – Jenny – me – Becky – Sara
Front: Lauren – Lucy – Alison – Katie – Ashley
L.O.V.E. these girl!

Sunday morning we went to breakfast at Mosquito and then everyone started to trickle away since so many girls had quite a distance to travel. We came from all over the state – Dallas/Fort Worth, San Marcos, College Station and Houston!

It was an amazing weekend with wonderful friends. Now y’all are all probably wondering what this has to do with having a support system? These are the girls that encouraged me to become an instructor. They are the ones that helped me when I was struggling, taught me when I needed to learn, and boosted me when my spirits were down. When you have people supporting your fitness journey, whatever it may be, it helps you to achieve your goals. The more support you have, the more encouragement you have. The more encouragement you have, the more inclined you are to succeed. The more success, the more you mature and grow it your fitness journey. So find your support system! It can be family – mom and dad/husband/siblings/whoever! It can be friends – find a way to work out together. Hold each other accountable. Take group classes and make friends at the gym! Everyone deserves a support system because everyone deserves encouragement and achievement throughout their entire fitness journey which is life!

Until next time…
With love and God bless,

Fashion and Photo Friday!

It’s Friday, Friday gunna get down on Friday!
Go ahead, continue. You know the words 🙂 You’re welcome. You will now have that song in your head for at least the next 30 minutes…as will I. It’s okay though because it really is Friday and I am so pumped for this weekend!
In just a few short hours, I get to see most of these lovely ladies and a few more!
Lauren’s wedding – May 2010 – LtoR: Katie – Becky – Jenny – Lauren – Alison – moi – Gretchen – DeAun
Now let’s talk about fashion! Color blocking is all the rage and I’m not going to lie, I’ve been sucked in. I love it. Maybe because I’m a huge fan of color! Take a look at my bright and summer outfit I put together for this week’s Friday Fancies with {long distance loving}!

Color Block It

I love the boldness of the primary colors in this outfit. It’s very out there and it just makes me smile! I’m dying for a pretty pleated skirt like this one, but maybe in black so I can wear more tops with it. Then I can dress it for work or play! What do you think about the yellow blazer? Too much? Just right? Something about the color just screamed out to me! Oh and let’s talk about those bracelets! You could wear them with so many different outfits! How to you feel about color blocking? Love it? Hate it? Share!

Last on my list of things to share with y’all today is an iPhone photo dump. I realized that I have quite a few pictures to share with y’all just hanging out on my phone!

Top LtoR: Spicy veggie tempeh crumble salad – Father’s day breakfast for Dad – The hubs and I at the Dynamo game!
Middle: Daddy and me with his Packer’s picture frame – Dynamo field – Father’s day cookie
Bottom: Pretty nails, Essie Flirt – Go Pack Go Tervis tumbler – Daddy with his snack survival kit tin!
Now time to get all of today’s meetings done and over with so I can head to Galveston to see my girls! Everyone have a fun and safe weekend!

Until next time…
With love and God bless,

Love: Baby Shower Planning!

It’s summertime and there is just so much to love! Some things I’m loving lately:

I’m loving that I have exciting plans for the next THREE weekends. That’s right, 3 weekends in a row.
This weekend: A&M Group X girls reunion in Galveston!

August 2009: DallasMANIA

Next weekend: Celebrating my Kristin’s 25th birthday with her in Dallas

The next weekend: Andrea is coming for an extended 4th of July bash and baby shower! Plus baby shower means I’ll get to see even more of my friends…including my Julie!!!

I’m loving that my hubby is back on days! Hooray for spending every evening with him 🙂

I’m loving that tonight we’re going to our very first Houston Dynamo game! We got free tickets when we ran the Dynamo Go for the Goal 5K back at the beginning of May. The hubs loves soccer! I’m not the biggest fan, but I enjoy it in person…and of course when the World Cup is on!

I’m loving smoothies. I just can’t get enough of them lately! Below is my green peach mango smoothie!

I’m loving International Delight Cinnabon coffee creamer 🙂 It’s so yummy and makes coffee taste like dessert!

I’m loving being able to eat bread and pasta again! I know I only cut it out for a little over 2 months, but as a runner, I think my body missed it. Okay and my tummy and my taste buds. It’s been almost a week and I still haven’t been to Panera Bread to celebrate! I need to add that to my to do list! However, as I type this, I am eating a bagel…and enjoying every.last.bite.

I’m loving planning Andrea’s baby shower. I know I’ve mentioned it a few times, but I just love throwing showers and parties! It’s going to be a blast!

I’m loving my Pinspiration for Andrea and Charlie’s shower!

Christmas in June

Happy Tuesday! It’s no longer Monday but not quite Wednesday…hmmm…what are we going to do with you Tuesday? I’m not going to lie, Tuesday is my least favorite day of the week. I feel like you wake up ready for a Monday morning. You expect it and you do your best to make it a great start to the week. By Wednesday, your week is halfway over and you have something to look forward to! So what do we do with Tuesday? It’s pretty much worse than Monday. Maybe a personal opinion 🙂 I still try my best to make each Tuesday special since I probably hurt its feelings by publicly declaring it my least favorite day of the week. To make this Tuesday special, I’m doing 2 things…

  1. Going to dinner at Baraby’s with my hubby for $2 Tuesday {$2 wine and beer…yes please!} and to celebrate the fact that I GOT A RAISE!
  2. Write a post about having a mini Christmas in June thanks to Miss Neely at A Complete Waste of Makeup!

For those of you that follow Neely, you know that recently she hit 1500 followers {and is well past it now!} and had a giveaway of 15 of her favorite things! I’m honestly not sure how it happened, but somehow, I managed to win! What? Now Neely and I have discovered over the past few months that we are quite alike, so clearly most of her favorite things are mine as well!

The best part about getting 15 things is that they came in multiple different packages! Who doesn’t love getting packages in the mail? Over the course of about 2 weeks, I got about 5 packages and 2 gift cards. It’s just like Christmas in June!

Package number 1 actually arrived as 3 little packages with the three items below! Essie nail polish in Flirt {currently on my fingers!}, OPI polish in Cajun Shrimp and 2 EOS lip balms! LOVE!

Item count: 3

My next package consisted of the movie Up in the Air {the hubs and I are going to watch this soon for sure!}, Falsies mascara {what girl doesn’t love new mascara?} and a vanilla cupcake scented Yankee Candle. Clearly I love the candle since it’s already lit! It makes my house smell amazing.

Item count: 6

Next up was a Lululemon headband {Lulu is my absolute fave fitness store!}, Softlips lip balm {came in a pack of 2 and 1 automatically went into my bag}, Orbit wintermint gum and Dior lip gloss! I hadn’t tried the Dior lip gloss before and let me tell y’all, I’m hooked!

Item count: 10

One item that I was super excited about was a personalized Tervis tumbler! I got to pick which one I wanted and everything! Of course, I picked the Green Bay Packers cup and you can’t see on here, but on the opposite side of the cup it says Amy in my favorite color, hot pink! Here is my cup already on my desk at work.

Item count: 11

I received the last package just yesterday and didn’t take a picture…ooops! It was a copy of the book Love the One You’re With by Emily Giffin. I am a big fan of Emily Giffin. I’ve read Something Borrowed, Something Blue, Baby Proof and Heart of the Matter, but NOT this one! How crazy is that? Once I’m done with my reading love affair with Christian Grey {yes I caved}, I will be reading this one for sure!

Item count: 12

Before the packages came, I also received 2 gift cards via e-mail. One was for everyone’s favorite coffee addiction…Starbucks! You really can’t go wrong with a Starbucks gift card 🙂

Item count: 13

Source

I also got at $25 gift card to Gussy Sews. I hadn’t heard about Gussy Sews until I found Neely’s blog and I’m really glad that I did! Using the gift card, I ordered this super cute Kindle case! She also has tons of totes, makeup bags, wristlets, iPad cases, and so much more!

Item count: 14

Source

Last but not least, I received a free 3 month sponsorship on Neely’s blog! Since I had already planned on sponsoring through July, now I get to sponsor through October! Super excited I must say 🙂

Item count: 15

So there you have it folks, 15 awesome gifts all for me in the month of June! Like I said, Christmas in June! Just thinking about all my goodies makes Tuesday just a bit better. A big, huge thank you again to Neely! Now we need to figure out when I’m going to make it up to Dallas!

Hope y’all have a wonderful Tuesday and that the work days speeds by for everyone!

Until next time…
With love and God bless,

MMM: Fit it in

Monday morning, we meet again. Of course I didn’t have this post all lined up and I had a CrAzY morning of meetings, so this one will be short and sweet {I’m booked in meetings from 10:30-12:30pm eeep!} Today I’ve got a quick workout for you to squeeze into your busy day!

Let’s be honest, some days, we just don’t have the time to work out. It is a crazy world we live in and it’s easy to get wrapped up in the business of day to day life. By the end of the evening, sometimes we just want to crash on the couch, turn on the TV and tune into our favorite show or catch up on DVR. Next time, instead of crashing on the couch, just spend a quick 15 minutes doing the workout below and trust me, you’ll feel so much better!

Workout of the Week
50 high knees {Quick count}
40 jumping jacks
30 walking lunges
25 tricep dips
20 push ups
15 sit ups {not crunches, don’t cheat!}
10 burpees
Then repeat!

If you have a little extra time, try to see how many times you can go through the series in 30 or 40 minutes. Don’t just speed through the exercises though, make sure you’re doing them right! All of the above exercises can be done without weights, but if you’re looking for an added challenge grabs some dumbbells or a kettlebell for the lunges and sits ups. The added weight will make you push a little harder!

Source: google.com via Amy on Pinterest

Just remember, if you think you deserve a reward for a busy day, reward yourself with a bit of exercise. Even if it’s only 15 minutes. Exercise and the ability to do so is a gift…so take it! Reward your body with energy and excitement. You will feel so much better if you do!

Hope you have a marvelous and motivated Monday! You deserve it 🙂

Until next time…
With love and God bless,
