Our Love Story

I’m not going to lie, I was having a serious writer’s block today. I wasn’t sure what to talk about, so I was going to give my brain a break and just read all of my friend’s blogs instead. Then I came across Miss Rochelle’s blog and decided that I had to do this link up! It’s the perfect time of year to talk about my true love, best friend and our love story!

1. How long have you and your significant other been together?
It was 5 years on November 14th

2. How did you meet? {What’s your “love” story?}
We met as fish camp counselors at Texas A&M in February of 2006. We were selected as counselors in the same camp. We became pretty close friends the summer of 2006 and even closer come fall 2006. After “talking” for a while and JP being unsure if he still had feelings for his ex, I pretty much told him he was either going to date me or he wasn’t. I guess the ultimatum worked since here we are today 🙂

3. If married, how long have you been married? If not, is this the guy you hope to marry? {do tell}
We have been married for 2 years this April 10th!

4. If you are married, where did you get married at? Big or small wedding?  If not, where would you like to get married? And will it be big or small?

We were married in my hometown, Sugar Land, TX at St. Laurence Catholic Church where I have been attending since we moved here in 1998! Our reception was at Safari Texas Ranch in the Magnolia Ballroom. We were supported by 300 of our closest friends and family. So it’s clear that our wedding was quite large! I have a HUGE family and we wanted to be able to include all of our friends, so a big wedding it was. Luckily, I had always dreamed of a big wedding and getting married in a Princess dress, so it all worked out for me!

5. Do you have any nick-names that you call one another? Do share!
My nicknames for him are: Jimmy Phil, Jayy Payyy {when I’m being obnoxious}
His nicknames for me are: my love, princess, and that’s really about it 🙂

6. Name 3 things you love most about your honey.
1. He loves me more than anything and reminds me daily.
2. His humor. Relationships are impossible without the ability to laugh.
3. His ability to hold me and sooth me when I feel like everything is falling apart.

7. Tell us how he proposed?
He proposed to me on November 14, 2008 on our 2 year anniversary at the park behind Johnny Carino’s in College Station {we had our first official date at JC’s on that day 2 years before!} He led me on a scavenger hunt around town with some of my closest friends. You can read the full story here!

8. Is he a flowers and teddy bear kind of guy for v-day, or strawberrieschampagne, and rose petals?
I would have to say neither. We’ve never been big Valentine’s day celebrators. We usually get each other a gift and have a “special” dinner {aka new recipe} and wine.

9. Are you a sunset dinner on the beach kind of girl, or pop a movie in and relax on the couch?
I would say I’m a movie and couch kind of girl, but a little romance on the beach is nice every once and a while!

10. Tell us one thing you’d like to do with your significant one day. If you could do anything? Go anywhere?
Travel across Europe. I would love to visit London and Paris with him and experience new adventures together! We started talking about a 2013 Europe trip recently!

11. Tell us what you plan on doing on this Valentine’s Day.
Well, since Valentine’s day is on a Tuesday and JP is on the afternoon shift, we won’t actually get to see each other. We’re “celebrating” on Saturday by going to the zoo! I’m super excited 🙂

12. Are you asking for anything this Valentine’s day?
Well, I really want a fitbit and I’m probably going to get one!

13. Give us one piece of advice of keeping a relationship strong and full of love.
You have to be able to express yourself and communicate. I know that so many people say this, but it couldn’t be more true. Talking about how you’re feeling with your significant other is the key to staying sane. Love and marriage isn’t easy. You have to work at it. The more you talk and listen, the better you understand one another. The better you understand one another, the easier it is to be happy and stay in love 🙂

14.  Show us a picture of what love means to you.

This was taken at a winery in Fredericksburg, TX. There was a band playing and no one on the dance floor, but us.We were so happy and content just being out there with one another. I couldn’t imagine my life without him.
I hope you’re having a wonderful Thursday. Do you have any Valentine’s plans with your sweetie?

Until next time…
With love and God bless,

Sharing is caring!
