2012 in Review

I now present to y’all 12 pictures to review the shenanigans of 2012. 2012 was a good year for the Gougler’s and I can’t wait to see just what 2013 has in store for us!

We officially closed on our very first home. I ran the Houston half for a 2nd time. We watched two good college friends get married!!!

We watched football season come to a sad end. Boo Giants. You read about my Disney Princess obsession. I went to Disney World with 3 of my favorite people to run the Disney Princess race again!

Kristin and I had some fun at the Houston Rodeo. We spent St. Patty’s Day in College Station drinking green beer. I shared one of my favorite workouts with y’all…and I really need to start doing it again! We watched two dear friends {Meghan & James} get married!

I went to my first Open Golf Tournament. We had a very Timmer Easter. We celebrated our 2nd anniversary in NOLA. I jumped on a plane to go see my Andrea in Bama!

I began discovering the issues with my tummy and allergies {a terrible ongoing process}. We hosted a Cinco de Derby Party! My little sister graduated from college. I got to stand by my best friend’s side as she married the love of her life.

We did our first adventure mud run in San Antonio with Julie! Maggie got to go to a Sugar Land Skeeters baseball game. I had a girls weekend getaway with my GroupEx girls from A&M. I finally got to meet some amazing blog ladies in Houston!

We traveled to Dallas to see Kristin for her birthday! We showered Andrea and Charlie with so much love in Houston! I let y’all get to know me just a little bit more. We celebrated Courtney’s bachelorette party in VEGAS {here’s the full recap}!!!

I started my training program for the Houston Marathon! We vacationed with our friends in Gulf Shores, AL.  I talked about my love and obsession with running. I wore two different shoes to work.

Aggie football season started again! I ventured to Huntsville, AL to see my Andrea again and shower Charlie again! I came to some realizations just as I turned 25 years old!

I discovered I have an online shopping problem πŸ˜‰ I spent a week in Knoxville, TN welcoming Charlie into the world. We witnessed two high school friends wedding day. We got tickets to see the Packers beat the Texans at Reliant Stadium! And I got a new job!

I shared an awesome chicken spaghetti recipe with y’all. I ran my 4th Rock ‘n Roll San Antonio half marathon. We celebrated Maggie’s second birthday. And celebrated Thanksgiving in Sugar Land with a Turkey Trot and the Timmers.

I ran my first 30K. I realized that the hubs is such a funny sleeper. Andrea came to visit with Charlie and we celebrated Kate’s graduation. We celebrated the Christmas season with so many friends and family. We truly are blessed beyond belief.

I hope everyone enjoys their final hours of 2012. Have a fun and wonderful New Year celebration, be safe and remember what you had to be thankful for in 2012. Here’s to a new year and another chance to get it right!

Until next time…
With love and God bless,

Final Friday of 2012

It’s the last Friday of 2012. This is it. only 4 more days of 2012. You know, 2012 really wasn’t bad for me. So many people seem to be glad to have 2012 behind them. Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited at the thought of a new year, but 2012 was great! We moved back to Houston, bought a house, traveled a ton, went to so many weddings, spent time with our loved ones, went to the Aggie home games, saw my little Charlie come into this world, and so much more. 2012 was great. I guess that means that I have even more to look forward to in 2013.

You know what I’m not looking forward to? Working today. Motivation is low. The office is empty. It’s super gloomy outside. And I want to be snuggled in my jammies under a blanket with my pup and my DVR. Doesn’t that sound fantastic? Instead I have this.

Here’s to hoping that some Starbucks will get me through the day. Let’s also cross our fingers that I get to leave early. Clearly I am typing this post while I’m at work. I’ve been lazy. I didn’t plan ahead. In fact I didn’t really even get on a computer from last Friday through this Wednesday. It was pretty glorious I might add.

This post is seriously all over the place. I’m slightly surprised y’all are still reading right now. Thanks though…it means you love me despite my wandering Friday after the holidays brain. So let’s jump back to 2013 and the New Year! Do y’all have any fun plans??? The hubs and I will be heading to San Antonio to spend NYE with our best friends from college. We’re such a tight knit group but spread out across Texas so it’s great to have everyone together again! Seriously one of the best parts about NYE πŸ™‚

Another reason I love NYE is because of champagne and sparkles. They’re two of my favorite things and they’re always socially acceptable and in abundance on NYE!

NYE is also the end of the holidays which means it’s the end of the calories don’t count season. That being said, I’m going to be making a treat or two to bring to our NYE party! I have an easy, yummy idea for one, but I really need another! Do y’all have any fun/delicious NYE dessert recipes that I should try? It has to travel well, so probably no cupcakes, but I’m definitely not opposed to decorating to make my treats all decked out for NYE!

Okay, I suppose I should get to work now. I’ll be back on top of things next week for sure. And don’t worry…I haven’t forgotten the rest of Christmas…I’m just behind πŸ™‚

Until next time…
With love and God bless,

It’s OKAY + Pre Christmas Celebrations

Happy day after, the day after Christmas! Kind of happy I guess. If you ask me, it’s a bit of a bummer. Now we have to wait another 363 days to celebrate Christmas again. However, the past several days have been absolutely amazing and this Christmas was perfect. I’m sad it’s over, but ready for another amazing year.

I don’t know about y’all but I’m back at work today and let’s just say it’s been an interesting morning. That being said, I’ve updated this post to include a link up to It’s OKAY Thursday with my girls Neely & Amber because it’s just necessary πŸ™‚

Its Ok Thursdays

…that I left my computer at home this morning and didn’t realize it until I got into the office.

…that I locked my key in my car and didn’t notice until I was about to go home to get said computer.

…that I’ve totally got the post Christmas blues. I love the build up to Christmas, so once it’s over, it makes me a little sad. At least the New Year is right around the corner!

…that my previous employer just now cut off my phone. I got 2 extra months of them paying for me…not to bad. Too bad they cut me off the day after Christmas. Looks like I’m going to the AT&T store during my lunch break.

…that it’s not even 10:00am on a Thursday and I could really use a glass of wine…or a margarita.

…that I’ve been gone a few days, so let’s play catch up. Prepare for picture overload.

First up…Wednesday, December 19th cookie decorating with my running girls Chandra and Melanie!!!

Of course Miss Maggie had to help out!

We are awesome decorators. It probably would have been better had I not made runny frosting on accident…ooops. It was super fun nonetheless and our running buddies appreciated them after our 22 mile run on Saturday!!!

Friday, December 21st, we had our little family Christmas! We exchanged our little gifts followed by dinner and a movie πŸ™‚

I’ve learned that Maggie is very intrigued by presents and enjoys opening them. Especially if they aren’t hers!

Saturday, December 22nd we had our friends over for a Tacky Sweater Christmas party!!! Even the liquor was dressed in tacky attire!

Corley brought over his 12 week old pup and her and Maggie had a blast playing. Maggie wasn’t too sure about her at first. I love this pic because Mags looks so fierce!

Perfect photo op!

I hope y’all are able to make it through the work day. I have a computer now, so I may be able too πŸ™‚ More Christmas recaps to come. It’s hard to be down today considering just how blessed I am. I’m a lucky girl.

Until next time…
With love and God bless,

Dear Santa…

Dear Santa, It’s been a long year this year. Longer than most. I think it’s safe to say that I’ve been pretty darn good. Maybe not every single day, but almost. That’s good enough to get me on the Nice List right? I’m sure you’ve already gotten my wish list by now. I made it on Pinterest and I’m pretty sure they have the Internet in the North Pole. Luckily you sent good vibes to my fantastic hubs who already got me my number 1…my Nikon D5100!!! Thanks Santa. Now if you could take a look at all those camera accessories, wrap them up and stick them under the tree I’ll be even better next year! I’ll even leave you some of the awesome cookies Chandra, Melaine & I made! xoxo Amy

From an e-mail my dad sent me!

Dear Boss, Thanks for telling me to take today off. You’re pretty awesome. My favorite part of the conversation was when you said to just take Friday off because you’re sure you’ll get plenty of hours out of me in 2013. Here’s to 2013!

Dear Hubs, I know you’re having a rough week, but it’s almost over! Hang in there and then we can have our little family Christmas tonight!

Dear House, Can’t you just stay clean for me? How do you get messy so quickly? Well it’s you versus me today and I’m going to need you to look nice through tomorrow. K thanks.

Dear Mayans, Sorry you were wrong. Actually sorry I’m not sorry. I’m looking forward to continuing on with my life beyond today.

Dear 22 mile course, I’m a little be scared of you. I’m nervous, but I know I’ll kick your butt. I’m going to bed tonight with positive thoughts. At least the weather will be great and I’ll be in good company! Here’s to rockin’ my final long run of marathon training!

Dear Miss Maggie, You’re the best snuggle bear when you want to be. I can’t believe you’ve almost been my baby for 2 years. Life wouldn’t be the same without you.

I’ll bet you’re glad you’re not a boy sweet Maggie!
From same e-mail from Dad!

Dear all my family and friends, I love you all, near and far. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas!

Dear Jesus, Happy early birthday. You’re the reason for the season and these days we have even more reason to praise you and spread your word. I am thankful that I was raised a believer. For you are the light in the world and we must search for you when it is dark. It was dark when you were born and you brought the world great light.

Dear Blog Family, I love you all. I am thankful for the nearly two years I have been blogging and the amazing people I have met IRL and “met” in blog land. I hope you all have a very merry Christmas!

Dear Daddy, Thanks for sending me the e-mail that inspired all these awesome pictures for today’s post!

Until next time…
With love and God bless,

Saw It. Pinned It. Did It: Easy Christmas Card Holder!

I think I’m really starting to notice now that I’m at the age where I receive quite a few Christmas cards. I believe this is what many people call “growing up.” This of course means that I too must send out a Christmas card. Luckily I have the must send out Christmas card mentality instilled in me by my momma. For this I am actually quite thankful. I’m glad that I started the year the hubs and I were married so I can look back on these in 60 years and smile.

Since I’m getting all these cards and my friends is full of save the dates, random pictures and mail that my husband needs to read, I needed a new spot for all of our cards! Enter…this pin:

Super cute right? Also super easy which is all that I’ve had time for lately. I’m still trying to remember that breathing is required and cannot be “put off” until later because I don’t have time. πŸ™‚  Luckily I had a cute wooden sign that I bought on clearance after Christmas last year. {Seriously the best time to snag some super cheap and awesome Christmas goods! I do it every year!}

So here’s how you do it…
Wooden sign {can be pre-made or you can paint it!}
Clothes pins
Hot glue gun

Cut ribbon to desired length
Glue ribbon to back of wooden sign
{I used two pieces of ribbon, but you can also do 3…or more!}
Clip cards onto ribbon with clothes pins

Yes, it’s as simple as that. I didn’t have very much green ribbon, so I opted to use some of the burlap ribbon I recently bought for additional length. What do you think?

I guess I’m trying to make the wall with the thermostat look a little cuter? It’s in such an awkward and totally noticeable spot. Annoying.

So here’s a quick shot that I snapped with my iPhone this morning! So many cards…I only have a little room left! I love getting Christmas cards. It’s really nice to get something in the mail besides junk and bills. I get excited to check the box each day after work. Nerdy? Yes. Do I care? Nope! This time of the year is the best. So much love and giving.

I have tomorrow off, so I’m hoping to get my house cleaned up and maybe accomplish another Pinterest project…or two! That should keep me covered for a few more weeks of Saw It. Pinned It. Did It. with Katie and Steph! Now get your little butt pinning away so you can link up too!

Until next time…
With love and God bless,

Bloggy Secret Santa!

Hello friends! It’s finally time to share about the Secret Santa swap with Kelly, Janna and Tabitha!

I’m super excited to find out who my awesome Blog Secret Santa is! Whoever she is, she clearly did some good research on me and figured out my love for fun scarves! We had a $10-$15 limit and she made an excellent choice!

While it’s not always cold in Houston, it is always cold in my office. So I can wear it like a real scarf or as a shrug to cover my shoulders and upper arms without having to wear long sleeves. Every. Single. Day. Seriously y’all it’s really that cold. Or I’m a wimp. Probably the later, let’s be real.

Anyway, I love my scarf. It’s beautiful and neutral and I’ve already worn it twice. Take a look at how cute I am! {jk jk}

THANK YOU SECRET SANTA! I can’t wait to figure out who you are πŸ˜‰

I was Niki’s Secret Santa! She blogs over at A Real Military Wife. She is an Air Force wife and a momma to two boys. Not only does she have her family to worry about, but she’s also a college student! {Get it girl!!!}

A note to Niki,
I hope that you love your gift and find some time to use it before you have to start classes again. Give yourself a break and just relax. I look forward to becoming your bloggy friend!

So what did y’all get from your Secret Santas? Don’t forget to link up!

Until next time…

Be Merry! Christmas Card Link Up

Somehow, some way the hubs and I managed to get all of our Christmas cards in the mail. Batch one was last week and batch two was on Monday, so I think just about everyone has gotten their card or at least they will pretty soon! It must be some sort of a miracle, but we did it! That being said, I can now share with my bloggy friends The 2012 Gougler Family Christmas Card!

And just because I can, let’s have a look at Gougler Family Christmas cards past…

Okay, so this is kind of a moving/Christmas card. It’s really not easy to move during the holidays! We did a combo in 2010 πŸ™‚

Big thanks to Shutterfly for my awesome Christmas Card creations. I really love their products!

Now show your Christmas card and link up with Kristen! I love Christmas cards and all the fun pictures…can’t wait to see them all!

Side Note: One year ago today, the hubs and I packed up our home in Pittsburgh and moved back home to Houston! I still can’t believe we’ve been back for a year already! We said our final farewell to Pittsburgh, and traveled across the country with a pit stop in Alabama to see Andrea before reaching our final destination. While I’m happy to be home, I sure miss Pittsburgh and our amazing friends there more than I ever thought I would!

Until next time…

Babies, Graduations & Christmas Lights!

It’s the last Monday of work before Christmas!!! Yippie! I don’t know y’all, but I had a pretty amazing weekend. My big surprise was that my Andrea and her little Charlie were coming to Texas! It was a big surprise for my sister-in-law Kate, so I didn’t want to spill the beans on the blog since she reads it.

Now prepare for an amazing picture overload. I promise they aren’t too boring πŸ™‚

Friday after work, we spent the evening with my family in Sugar Land. Everyone wanted to hold and love on little Charlie…how can you not love this face?

Funniest. Picture. Ever. This doesn’t even look like him, but I love it so much!

Saturday morning, I was supposed to sneak in a 13 mile run, but my head cold moved into my chest. You can run with head congestion, but it isn’t recommended with chest congestion. Plus, I’m notorious for getting bronchitis when I over do it. So I decided to save myself for this coming weekend since I have to run 22 miles! I was already up bright and early so I decided to go to the aid station for our runners to hang out with Chandra and cheer on our running mates.

After I got home, we were off to College Station. First stop, lunch at La Bodega!!! This is mine and Andrea’s happy place. We used to go here every Wednesday night after my step class for tacos and shakers!

Apparently Charlie isn’t a big fan of La Bodega πŸ™‚ We got him cleaned up and headed to campus for a walk down memory lane.

These two pictures were taken in the brand new MSC – Memorial Student Center – on campus. They started remodeling it after our senior year of college. It was old and out dated and now it is beautiful!

The academic building…Andrea and I walked by this every day to get to class. It’s so beautiful and rustic.

We had to grab some pictures under the Century Tree! We also walked by our ID {industrial distribution – our major} buildings. I have pictures of them, but they’re actually not very pretty. After walking for a bit, Charlie fell asleep. We’re pretty sure he liked the campus though. We’re just glad we got him here before he got to visit ‘Bama! {Andrea’s fiance is a ‘Bama boy}

We went to the Gougler residence to prep for Kate’s party and smother Charlie with more love!

The hubs looked adorable with Charlie. Melt my heart. Seriously. And to think, he’ll be the father of my babies one day. I’m a lucky girl!

Stockings at the Gougler’s! I had to snap a pic!

By 4:00pm the party was under way. Kate managed to make hundreds of jello shots and they were pretty good! Too bad I wasn’t feeling so hot because there were jello shots, sangria, a margarita machine and a keg. It was a hoppin’ party!

I’m so glad I remembered to snap a pic of Anne, Charlie and I with the new college grad! Kate graduated from UT-Dallas with a major in History. She already has a job and is teaching World Geography at Skyline High School in Dallas. I’m so proud of my seester!!!

Sunday morning rolled around it’s safe to say we rolled out of bed quicker than Kate and her friends. We went to bed around 11:00pm while they went to bed around 3:00am. Luckily for them, the most amazing hosts in the world {my in-laws duh} made a wonderful breakfast spread. I seriously need to make Jody’s pancake casserole. It’s addicting. After brunch we were off to run some errands. Then a quick stop by mine and Anne’s other favorite CS restaurant…Blue Baker!!!

We even took a picture in front of the sign we love it so much! After that we were off to the airport…it was a sad good bye, but luckily I’ll see them at Disney World in February!

Sunday night, the hubs and I went over to Chandra and Michael’s house for dinner and driving around River Oaks looking at Christmas lights! I snapped a few good shots…

Then we went home and went to bed at 9:45pm because we’re cool like that. What did you do this past weekend? Anything exciting? Don’t forget to link up!

Until next time…
With love and God bless,
