New Year, New Changes

FRIDAY!!! Is it just me or has this week been the LONGEST short week ever? Even longer than the week after Thanksgiving. I blame it on the fact that I am one of the few people from my work that are actually working this week. And to top it off, even though I’m working from home, my entire family is home and NOT working. Thus making me the loser of the week. Luckily it is now Friday and Julie is on her way to come visit me at my parents!!! Then it’s the weekend and the new year! I’m hoping that the new year will bring great new changes to my life and my blog!

Last January, I started this blog in order to keep my family and friends up to date on our adventures and new life in Pittsburgh. For the first several months, it was just that. A place for me to tell stories about my life and share while my loved ones the little this’s and that’s that make me happy. Somewhere along the way, things began to change. I started writing more about my passions. I started linking up with other bloggers, reading other blogs (besides my friends from home), interacting with the blog world and making new friends with people I have never met face to face before. I went from enjoying my blog to falling in love with it. I look forward to telling my stories, recapping my life, writing about what I love and reading all of my bloggy friends blogs! It’s a beautiful little blog world and I am so happy to be a part of it. I’m hoping to grow even more and “meet” more amazing friends this next year.

With the new year, a few new changes will come with my blog. Obviously, I no longer live in Pittsburgh, so now my tales will revolve more around the beautiful south. I also plan to write more about fitness, running, workouts, healthy eating and MORE recipes! Don’t worry, things aren’t changing that much! I’m still going to be linking up with all my buds and writing about whatever comes to my mind. I just wanted to add a bit more focus to health and fitness since that is my passion. Now that I’m back in Texas, I’m hoping to get my Group Exercise instructor position back so I’ll be teaching more and going to more training and certification courses! Fitness, teaching and helping others achieve their goals are passions of mine and are so important to me. I hope to one day be able to focus more on this aspect of my life, so why not start with my blog?! It’ll be fun…I promise ๐Ÿ™‚

Now since it’s Friday and tomorrow is New Year’s Eve, it’s time of the NYE Edition of Friday Fancies! I’m linking up with Alison over at {long distance loving}!

I decided to take a different spin on the NYE sparkles! Instead of sequins, how about a metallic shimmer? I saw the dress and thought it would be super fun with colorful pumps, which of course, automatically led me to pink ๐Ÿ™‚

The hubs and I are off to the Aggie bowl game tomorrow morning then going to a friends house to ring in the New Year with a bunch of close friends! I hope that everyone has a super safe and fun New Year! Don’t drink and drive!

Until next year…
With love and God bless,

I’m linking up with Jamie at This Kind of Love and Michelle at The Vintage Apple for What I’m Loving Wednesday and Oh! How Pinteresting Wednesday!

I’m loving that the hubs and I decided to stay another night in College Station to spend time with his family. It helps that our amazing Auntie Annie and Uncle Steve offered to let us stay in a hotel so we could have an alone night and they can have their Mariott Silver status next year! Thanks so much Annie and Steve! We love youuu ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m loving that we close on our house one week from today and officially move in the next day! Is this for real? New year, new home, new chapter!

With love and God bless,

Where did Christmas go?

Does anyone else feel like Christmas came and went abnormally fast this year? I can’t decide if my favorite time of year flew by because I was pre-occupied with moving or if each year time is starting to tick faster and faster. Who knows…maybe a combination of the two.

Anywho…how was your Christmas??? I must say that mine was WONDERFUL. Christmas Eve Eve, we had our annual Timmer-Billingsley Christmas. Mr. Buddy and Ms. Robin and their 3 boys are like family to us…let’s just say I made them Mother’s day and Father’s day cards for them when I was younger ๐Ÿ™‚ Every year we spend Christmas Eve Eve with them, exchange gifts, eat good food and have a few {or several} adult beverages.

The Billingsley Clan!

With my sweet hubby

This year, as always, was a blast. JP and I had to leave a little early to go to one of my besties wedding showers!!! We had a great time and we even won one of the games. Needless to say, by the end of the day, we were stuffed and tired!

Pretty cake!

Cliff (the groom) and JP getting ready for the game!

Christmas Eve was eventful…you can read about that here.

Christmas day was perfect. As always, the Timmer clan was up at the crack of dawn…or 6am and ready to open presents {who said that getting older means you have to be less excited about Santa coming?} Some of my favorite presents were my new Kindle from the hubby, a gorgeous light pink blazer from my sister, house decor from my brothers, new black boots, clothes and more new house stuff from mom, dad and Santa! I am so blessed to have such an amazing, giving family. One of my favorite parts of the day was seeing my momma’s face light up when she opened her new Coach purse from me. I love that I was able to give her something nice that she wanted and needed. It’s the least I could do after everything that she has done for me over the past 24 years!

๏ปฟ

Santa came!!! And we all made the nice list ๐Ÿ™‚

๏ปฟ

The kids after church

After presents, we went to the 8a.m. mass at St. Laurence and it was beautiful. We love this Christmas mass because we’re already up and it’s the least crowded of all the masses. It’s always more enjoyable when you’re able to sit! Later that morning, I went to pick up some family friends and their two babies. It was fun spending the day with them, playing the Wii and eating a delicious meal prepared by my dad, my husband and myself. Since Momma was hurt, the boys had kitchen duty with a little direction from me. I didn’t help too much because after getting things situated with them, I took off on an 8 mile run! I wasn’t too excited about it before I got started, but I quickly got into my rhythm and finished in 1:08:50!

Later Christmas evening, the hubs and I headed over to our friend Courtney’s house for some fun with our all of our Sugar Land friends! We played some fun holiday games, drank some wine and enjoyed each other’s company.

Courtney and I won the ball hanging game!

JP playing the nut stacker!

Friends! Kind of an awkward pic…I’ll post some other great ones we took on Leah’s camera later!

Yesterday, we packed up the car and headed to College Station for Christmas with JP’s family! We had so much fun yesterday and were so happy that we got to see EVERYONE!!! My sis-in-law Kate and I went to the mall in the afternoon and made out with some really cute stuff from Express on super-duper sale! Shopping was followed by dinner at La Bodega which is one of my favorite spots in College Station. After dinner, we all collapsed and I passed out on the couch completely!

Today we’re still in College Station and I’m working from the Gougler casa! I love this town so much and have missed it greatly over the past year. It definitely makes me feel like I’m back in college again! We’re actually thinking about staying another night! My goal is to take some pictures while we’re here since I didn’t get a single one yesterday! I hope that everyone is having a wonderful day and is either enjoying their time off or making it through a hopefully easy day at work!

Until next time…
With love and God bless,

Happy Birthday Jesus!

Happy birthday to Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior! Merry Christmas to all! I hope you day is filled with joy, fun and family…and that you were on Santa’s nice list ๐Ÿ™‚

Side note: For those of you that know my momma, we spent yesterday morning in the emergency room, but I wanted to let everyone know that she is OKAY and just trying to get some rest. She had a bit of an accident when she was about to head out to work yesterday morning. It involved a parking break, putting the car in reverse, the car not moving, mom getting out of the car to see what’s wrong, releasing the parking break, the car rolling backwards knocking mom hard to the ground and the car rolling down the driveway and across the street. It’s safe to say the car has seen it’s better days, but the incident was mild considering what could have possibly happened. Mom suffered a mild concussion and had gash on the back of her head that required 2 staples. She also hurt her ankle, but x-rays say it’s not broken! It’s bruised and pretty hard to walk on, but hopefully she will heal fast. If you have a few minutes, please say a prayer for her quick healing.

Other than that, all is well on Christmas Day at the Timmer house. We’re looking forward to spending time with our friends tonight and the Gougler’s in College Station tomorrow!!! I can’t wait to go to CS to see my other wonderful family ๐Ÿ™‚

Merry Christmas to all from the Gouglers!!!

With love and God bless,

have yourself a merry little Christmas…

I hope that everyone is having a Merry Christmas Eve! I saw this survey on Katie’s blog over at Keep Calm and Carry On and thought it would be the PERFECT Christmas Eve post as we all await Jesus’ birthday ๐Ÿ™‚

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? Definitely hot chocolate. I’m not an egg nog person. Plus, on Christmas Eve I have hot chocolate with Peppermint Schnapps and it’s so tasty!
2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit the under the tree? Santa definitely wraps presents and there is always a big pile under the Timmer tree!
3. Colored lights on the tree/house or white? I like the classic white lights. I would rather bring the color in with the ornaments!
4. Do you hang mistletoe? I never have, but I’m not opposed to it.
5. When do you put your decorations up? Usually it’s the day after Thanksgiving or at least the weekend after. This year I put them up about mid-November since I didn’t get to have them up for long! I like to enjoy my decorations as long as possible.
6. What is your favorite holiday dish? Green bean casserole…the Wal-mart commercials are right!
7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child? I seriously can’t pick just one, but I will say that sipping hot chocolate in the hot tub on Christmas Eve is one of my favorites. One Christmas in particular, it snowed several feet when I lived in Virginia which was also super special especially for a little kid!
8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? In 5th grade, I snooped and saw presents to Amy, from Santa. I didn’t tell my mom until 8th grade though and almost cried!!! Santa still exists in my family and I love seeing presents from him under the tree each year!
9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? Just one! Usually PJs ๐Ÿ™‚
10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree? White lights with an assortment of special ornaments and red, green and gold balls!
The Gougler Christmas Tree ๐Ÿ™‚

I thought I’d add a picture of my parents pretty tree that my sister and I decorated!
11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? Love it! I like it better in small doses or just visiting it though!
12. Can you ice skate? Yes! I went in Pittsburgh the last two years!
13. Do you remember your favorite gift? My mom says that it was probably my EZ Bake oven
14. What’s the most important thing about the Holidays for you? Keeping Christ in Christmas.
15.What is your favorite Holiday dessert? How can you pick just one?! I’m a big fan of the assorted dessert trays that the neighbors bring over…so many choices for me to sample!
16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? Waking up early on Christmas day, opening presents and going to church EARLY with the family. We still wake up early and are excited for Christmas. I love that we’re okay with acting like little kids. It keeps the holidays special.
17. What tops your tree? A sparkly, pink star. This will change next year!
18. Which do you prefer: giving or receiving? Giving. Absolutely. I love shopping for my loved ones and seeing the looks on their faces. The joy. The gratitude. It’s beautiful. Getting gifts isn’t so bad either though ๐Ÿ™‚
19. Candy Canes: Yuck or Yum? Yum! I love peppermint anything!
20. Favorite Christmas show? Home Alone, Serendipity, The Grinch, Elf… LOVE Christmas movies!
21. Saddest Christmas Song? Christmas Shoes. It’s about a child wanting to buy his/her momma a pair of Christmas shoes before she passes away to be with Jesus. So sad ๐Ÿ™
22. What is your favorite Christmas song? I love Mariah Carey’s version of All I Want for Christmas is You! I also adore Silent Night and Joy to the World!

I’m so excited for hot chocolate, hot tubbin’, and Elf watching tonight then Christmas tomorrow! Have a wonderful Christmas Eve and don’t stay up too late or Santa won’t come!

Until next time…
With love and God bless,

Long Road Trip and a White Christmas!

Happy Friday and Christmas Eve Eve! I hope that everyone is having a wonderful day and get to be with your families during this wonderful time of year! I’m linking up with {av} from {long distance loving} for this week’s White Christmas Edition of My Friday Fancies!

I have a white puffy vest that I love wearing this time of year and never thought about wearing it with white jeans until this White Christmas project came up! I like the simplicity of the white and neutral colors.

Now for the exciting news…WE ARE OFFICIALLY BACK IN TEXAS!!!!! And I couldn’t be happier. I already miss my friends in Pittsburgh, but it’s so great to be back home and with family at this time of year. I want to share some pictures from our road trip!

We started in Pittsburgh and headed west and very quickly found the West Virginia border!

After about a 5 mile drive through the West Virgina panhandle, we were already in Ohio! We spent the night in Columbus and were back on the road by 8am on Tuesday.

Next came Kentucky!

Then Tennessee…my momma’s home state!

And finally we were in ALABAMA to see Andrea! We got there at about 3:45pm on Tuesday and spent the evening chatting it up and of course, downing a large bottle of wine. I wouldn’t have it any other way. Then we spent Wednesday doing yoga, exchanging gift, shopping at Bridge Street in Huntsville and finally we went to the airport to welcome Andrea’s momma home from Iraq! We had to take off at about 6:30pm to get a few hours of driving out of the way.
Welcome home Miss Lisa! We love you! Tony – Lisa – Andrea – Amy

Once we were back on the road, we managed to make it to Mississippi before taking a sleep break in Meridian!

After a while we made it to Louisiana…

…and FINALLY Texas…the Lone Star State…God’s Country…whatever you want to call it ๐Ÿ™‚

One of my favorite signs on I-10 just showing how wide Texas is.

By 5:00pm we arrived at my parents house and it felt so good to be out of the car and home!!! I hope you enjoyed some of the pictures ๐Ÿ™‚ It was a fun adventure with my sweet hubby and puppy, but it’s safe to say that we’re all glad it’s over.

I hope everyone has a merry Christmas Eve Eve and I’ll be back tomorrow to talk about Christmas Traditions and stop talking about moving and driving…I’m sure you’re all getting sick of it!

Until next time…
With love and God bless,

On the Road Again…

โ€ฆI just canโ€™t wait to get on that road again. Seeing things that I may never see again. And I canโ€™t wait to get on that road again!!! Funny story about that song, I sang it in my 5th grade end of the year choir performance as a trio. I know what youโ€™re thinking, and yes, Iโ€™m kind of a bid deal J
I tried posting via my phone yesterday and seeing as though there is no post, yโ€™all can assume that it didnโ€™t go over so well. I typed it up twice and lost it both times. This led to an incredibly unhappy Amy. Now we are back on the road again heading towards Texas for our last leg of the trip! I canโ€™t believe that weโ€™re going to be home for good in just 7-8 more hours! Before today we had gone 919 miles and we have about 550 to go today. Weโ€™re currently taking a lunch break in Hammond, LA which means that I am blessed with Internet. I am so sorry for my lack of posting, but this week has definitely thrown some wrenches in my oh so perfect plans!
I want to do a fun post on all of our pictures from the road trip, and today I was going to share some pictures from Alabama, but my computer doesn’t want me to be able to do that! Ugh…so annoying, but I’m not going to let it get to me. Maybe I’ll be able to post a few tonight!
Now we need to get back on the road so we can make it home for the Texans!!!
Until next time…
With love and God bless,

A Final Farewell

I can’t believe I’m actually saying typing this, but today is our LAST day in Pittsburgh! Has it really come to this so soon? I know that Friday I was saying it was my last weekend in Pittsburgh, but to go from my last weekend to my last day…it seems so soon.  For the most part, it wasn’t the most eventful weekend ever. It’s hard to be too eventful when you have movers taking everything out of your home! Friday night we went ice skating and I had a Flashback to this time in 2010. Saturday I planned on running, but had to stick to the elliptical due to the quarter size blisters I developed while ice skating. We also watched the movers and I got a massage…ahhhh. Sunday morning we spent 4 hours cleaning pretty hard core, followed meeting up with Matt an Maria at Buffalo Wild Wings and watching the Texans AND the Packers (sad day) lose! Then the four of us headed to Matt’s brother’s house to meet his family and enjoy lots of Christmas treats! On Saturday and Sunday, it also snowed! How sweet of God to give me one last Pittsburgh snow ๐Ÿ™‚

Starting to snow harder as our movers were finishing up!

Sunday morning!

The hubs being a doll and cleaning off the windshield while I warmed up the car!

Now, today is the interesting part of this post. I give you all permission to laugh and point your fingers at me because the situation I am currently in is quite pitiful! This morning my wonderful husband woke me up at 4:50a.m. and brought me from my nice, warm hotel bed to our cold, empty house where I proceed to attempt to sleep on the living room floor until 7a.m. I probably got about an hour of sleep {which is more than JP got so I’m not complaining}. Definitely didn’t get much more than that since our house makes creepy noises when it’s empty and I’m alone. Now I’m sure you’re wondering why on earth he brought me here. Unfortunately, today is the only day we could get our carpets cleaned and trust me, they NEEDED to be cleaned. The car moving company {don’t know what it’s really called clearly} took my car on Friday leaving us with only one car which is good since we only want to drive one car home to Texas. This is not so good for the 11-12 hours I will be spending in our empty house with no form of transportation. So now, while all of you are sitting at your desks at work, in your chair or on your comfy couch at home, you can picture me sitting on the floor in my kitchen. Yes, the floor. Yes, the kitchen tile. My carpets are now clean…and wet. I’m tired of standing up at the counter, but soon I’m sure that my rump will tell me it’s tired of the title floors.
Tonight, JP and I will start the 1,466 mile journey from Pittsburgh to Houston. It will include several stops along the way and I’ll be sure to keep y’all posted on our progress! Tonight {after the hubs picks me up from my house}, we’re having an early farewell dinner with our Pittsburgh besties, Matt and Maria. I can’t even explain how much I’m going to miss them. Luckily, we’ll be visiting Pittsburgh and they’ve both promised to come to Texas and I’m totally holding them to it! CHEESE ALERT: We’re having dinner at Red Robing because that is the first place that the four of us were all together {JP and I met Matt on different occasions} and they have a good, but early {4-6p.m.} happy hour. After dinner, we plan to tackle 186 miles and stay the night in Columbus, Ohio!

Stay tuned for our super fun car trip which I believe will include some entertaining stories if I know us. I have some other fun Christmasy things up my sleeve for y’all! So here’s to my last post in Pittsburgh! It’s been great ๐Ÿ™‚
Until next time…
With love and God bless,

Flashback

It’s Saturday. My last Saturday in Pittsburgh at that. You’re probably wondering why on earth am I inside on my computer, blogging on my last Saturday in Pittsburgh. Well…I’m stuck. At home. Waiting on our stuff to be loaded into the moving truck. I did make it to the gym and picked up some yummy Panera Bread bagels for breakfast! Now I’m back at home sitting around with a bunch of boxes, no t.v., no warm fuzzy blankets to cuddle up in. I do have my computer though, so let the blogging commence!

Instead of looking at the lights at Kennywood last night, we decided to hit up Primanti Bros. and then go ice skating at the PNC outdoor rink! We had to have Primanti one last time before leaving Pittsburgh and it was delicious as always.

๏ปฟ

JP and Matt decided to split some Chili Cheese Fries!

๏ปฟ๏ปฟ

My yummy turkey sandwich…Pittsburgh style of course! Turkey, coleslaw, french fries and tomatoes!

๏ปฟ Once our bellies were full we headed to the rink! Now the reason this post is titled flash back is because JP and I skated at this rink our first week in Pittsburgh exactly one year ago when we were house hunting. It seems as though we’ve now come full circle and went again our last week in Pittsburgh! Here are some pictures from both years ๐Ÿ™‚

Gingerbread houses 2011

I know it’s cheesy, but I really do feel like we’ve come full circle like I said earlier! It’s also quite fitting that it is snowing as we speak. We haven’t gotten much snow this December, but last year it was snowing like crazy when we came to visit!

Snow December 2010

Just starting to snow December 2011 – it’s starting to stick now!

Okay, I’m done now. It’s safe to say that JP and I have truly enjoyed this year that we’ve spent in Pittsburgh. It’s been a great adventure and I wouldn’t want to experience it with anyone else in the world. It has strengthened our relationship and our love for one another. We know how to rely on each other since at first we were all that each other had! I’m thankful for this time and would never take it back, but I’m also thankful to be moving back home to friends and family. We will miss our friends up in Pittsburgh though. Matt and Maria have been the BEST friends we could ask for! I’m excited to come back and visit them and the rest of our flag football team in the spring, but I’m even more excited for them to come to TEXAS!!!

Well that’s all I have for now. Back to hanging out with the hubs and pup doing pretty much nothing for the next few hours ๐Ÿ™‚ Have a wonderful Saturday! 2 days until we start driving! 3 days until I see Andrea! 5 days until we’re home!8 days until Christmas! WOW!

Until next time…
With love and God bless,
