Pumpkin Carving and Roasted Pumpkin Seeds

Oh Saturday, I have missed you so! I was supposed to tackle a lovely 8 mile run in the freezing cold this morning, but since it decided to snow this morning, I was stuck squeezing in 6 miles on the treadmill when the gym opened this morning! Updates on the snow and running to come tomorrow! I will say that this run was only the start of what will be a busy day! Since the Gougler’s days in Pittsburgh are limited and dwindling quite fast, we’re try to make the most of every day we have here! Today, we’re heading out to West Virginia to go to one of JP’s colleague’s home for a football party! Naturally, everyone there are big OSU fans, but since the Texas A&M game is on at noon, everyone is coming out early to celebrate the Aggies with us! Updates and pictures to come on Monday’s weekend recap post! I know there will be lots of food, booze and fun people, so I have a strange feeling it’ll be a good time. Tomorrow night, we have a Halloween party to go to for one of our friends on our flag football team! I’ve never been a big Halloween fan, but I think it will be nice to dress up after skipping out the past few years!

Now let’s rewind to Thursday night. JP and I met Maria up at the gym for a work out {obviously}. After we hit the cardio machines and the weights, we stopped by the grocery store to pick up our PUMPKINS!!! Neither of us had carved a pumpkin yet this year, so it was clearly time. We also made some french fries, zucchini fries and mummy dogs for a Halloween themed dinner 🙂

Mummy dogs! Before the went into the oven. They didn’t live long enough to have an after pic…we were starving!

Drawing my pumpkin’s face! I named him Mater {from Cars} because of his buck teeth!

Maria taking the first stab!

Pumpkin guts! My favorite part of carving 🙂

The finished product!

Okay, so we’re clearly not pumpkin carving experts or artists by any means, but we had a blast doing it and that’s what matters!

Yesterday I decided to roast the seeds from our pumpkins. I did a batch of sweet and another of savory. I based both of my recipes off of others which you can find at the end of the post. Take a look at some pictures and my version of the recipes I found below!

For the Spiced Seeds you need: 1 cup of pumpkin seeds, 2 tsp Worcester sauce, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp garlic powder, 1/4 tsp of chili powder and 1 tbsp melted butter

Preheat the oven to 275 degrees. Mix all of the ingredients together in a baking dish. Bake for 45 minutes, let cool and enjoy!

For the kettle corn style pumpkin seeds you need: 1 cup of pumpkin seeds, 1 1/2 tbsp of butter, 1 tbsp of sugar and a dash of salt
Preheat oven to 275 degrees. Mix seeds, butter and sugar together in a bowl. Spread out along a foil wrapped baking sheet. Sprinkle with salt then bake for 25 minutes, let cool and enjoy!

Here are the links to the recipes that I based mine off of:

What’s your favorite way to eat a pumpkin seed? Plain, sweet, salty, spicy, Halloween-y? Hope everyone has an amazing Saturday!
Until next time…

Halloween Edition of My Friday Fancies!

HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY Friday to all! Can you believe it’s the final Friday of the month? In 4 days, we can officially say that Christmas is next month. I’m not excited or counting down or anything like that 🙂

Back to business, today I am linking up with the wonderful Alison from Long Distance Loving for My Friday Fancies! **Side Note: I found out this week that Alison and I share the same anniversary with our hubbies! Yay for having an anniversary twin. She also made this awesome banner for my blog! She’s fantastic!

This week I have created a super fun 1920’s inspired flapper Halloween costume!

1920's Flapper

I love the idea of dressing all glamorous and pretending to live the lifestyle of a woman in New York or Chicago in the 1920’s! All of the jewels and fun dresses are perfect for a classy Halloween costume! Oh and I love the original Tiffany & Co. shipping barrel from the 1920’s; I had to add it to the glam.

I hope that everyone has a wonderful Friday! I have a fun weekend ahead of me and can’t wait for the working day to be OVER! What are you going to be this year for Halloween?

Until next time…
With love and God bless,

Changes are Coming!

I know they say that fall is the season of change, but for the past several years, winter has been my season of change.
In December 2009, I graduated from Texas A&M University and started my first grown up job in the real world {still have it too!}. January 2011, JP and I moved away from everything and everyone we know and love up to Pittsburgh. Now, in December 2011, we’re making the trek back to the Lone Star State!

Andrea and I on graduation day! December 2009
House hunting trip to Pittsburgh: December 2010

This move is BIG though. Moving itself is challenging and a hassle, but this time around we will be purchasing our first home! I am super excited and nervous all at the same time. We had initially anticipated that we would be moving at the end of January. However, as oil companies like to do, they have moved JP’s start date for his new position in Houston for JANUARY 2nd!!! Yes, that means we’ll be moving back over Christmas. We have already planned our house hunting trip for the week after Thanksgiving, but now this seems like it’s a little too late! We’ve done a lot of looking online and found a realtor,so we hope that will help speed up the process a little. Looks like we’ll be hanging out at the Timmer house for a bit longer than planned. These next few months are going to FLY by!

I’m flying to Texas November 11th to go to San Antonio for the weekend, then I have a crazy week in the office the 14-18th. I’ll be back in Pittsburgh for 4 days before JP and I fly back to Houston on November 23rd for Thanksgiving! We’ll spend Thanksgiving in College Station, then it’s back to Houston for house hunting! The next weekend we’ll be up in Fort Worth for Trav and Hanna Jo’s wedding and we’ll be back in Pittsburgh December 4th. As of right now, it looks like JP and I will start our trek back to Houston on December 20th!!! It’s going to zoom by, be a little stressful and a lot of fun. We’re looking forward to heading back home. I’ll be sure to keep everyone up to date on the process.

Until next time…
With love and God bless,

Here Comes the Bride…

I’ve been debating on whether or not I was going to do a post about my wedding for a while now and have finally decided to go ahead and do it! I know that I got married over a year and a half ago, but I didn’t start blogging until this past January! Plus, I know that I love looking at other people’s wedding pictures, so maybe I can entertain some others with mine!
Now let’s rewind a few years…

JP and I started dating November 14, 2006. We were engaged on our two year anniversary at the park behind Johnny Carino’s in College Station, TX which is where we went on our first date. We were married on April 10, 2010 at St. Laurence Catholic Church in Sugar Land, TX.

The dress…not sure why it’s rotating when I upload it!

Up close of the bodice detail

I absolutely adore my dress still to this day. I’m planning on taking more pictures in it this Spring since I didn’t get as many as I would have liked of JP and I on our big day! Here are a few bridals:

Our special day went exactly as planned and I couldn’t imagine a more magical day. I still cannot believe that God created such an amazing man to compliment me. God works in wondrous ways and I am beyond blessed that he led JP and I to one another.

Best sister friends getting ready to get our hair done!

Mom and Emmy helping with my dress!

My amazing Daddy walking me down the aisle. He talked to me the entire time. {I think it was so that he wouldn’t cry!}

Our special prayer time together 🙂 Magical private moment during a big production.

JP, you may kiss your bride!
Had to get one of everyone in there!

They read you Cinderella, you hoped it would come true, that one day your prince charming would come rescue you!

The dance floor was hopping all night long! It was definitely a party which is just what I wanted!

Perfect ending to the best day of my life!

I hope you enjoyed reminiscing with me! I still love to go back and look through my pictures on random days. It reminds me of how lucky I am to be married to JP. I thought I couldn’t love him more than I did on our wedding day, but the best thing is that I love him more and more every day. I love being married and can’t wait to make even more memories with my best friend!

Until next time…
With love and God bless,

Scentsy Give Away!

Julie over at the girl in the red shoes is hosting a scentsy give away! I don’t know if you’ve seen/heard about/tried/owned a scentsy, but they are amazing! One of my dear friends, Kristin, was super sweet and bought me one as a house warming gift when JP and I moved up to Pittsburgh!

Source

This is the beautiful Scentsy that Kristin bought me along with 3 amazing scents! Such a great friend 🙂 The neat thing about this giveaway is that it’s for a wall plug warmer which would be perfect for my office or master bedroom and you also get a scent bar! Head on over to the girl in the red shoes to check it out!

I’ll be back later today with a fun wedding post 🙂
Until then…
With love and God bless,

The Timmers in Pittsburgh!

Hello, hello and happy Monday! This weekend absolutely flew by, but it was absolutely amazing! As promised, I have a fun and picture filled recap of this weekend with my parents.

This was my parents first time to come visit us in Pittsburgh! I’ve been fortunate enough to see them on several occasions since I still work out of Houston and I’ve been down for several business trips. This allowed them to wait a bit later to make the trip up North. I picked Mom and Dad up from the airport around 2:00pm on Friday and brought them back to my house to meet their grand-dog! They kept Maggie entertained while I had to work for a few hours. Maggie absolutely loved her grandparents and enjoyed the attention that she received from them. Once JP got home, he went to take a quick power nap since he worked the afternoon shift on Thursday and daylight shift of Friday resulting in 4 hours of sleep 🙁 Mom was exhausted as well so she decided to lay down and get some rest while Dad and I went to the Montour Trail to take Maggie for a nice long walk.

Maggie was so excited she kept getting all twisted up in her leash!

Happy and tangled girl

We saw a beaver swim into his home in the creek!

My beautiful little girl!

After a 3 mile walk in the gloomy, kind-of-misty Pittsburgh air, we decided to head back to the house. I was glad that Dad was able to see the trail that I spend several hours a week at for running and just being outdoors! When we got home, JP and Mom were up so we all decided to have a beer and chat for a bit before we headed out to Primanti Brothers for dinner! Everyone who visits us in Pittsburgh has to experience Primanti Brothers! We took Emily, Julie, Kate and Matt back in March and Andrea in April! Everyone had very yummy sandwiches for dinner and we were super full, but not too full for some German beer! After dinner, we headed downtown to South Side Works where the Hofbrau Haus is located! We took Andrea here in April and knew that my dad would definitely appreciate the German beer since he spent quite a bit of time in Germany! It ended up being even more fun then we imagined because the Haus Band playing and the place was packed. We enjoyed the live music and enthusiastic crowd. We even stayed a little bit longer than planned!

JP and Dad in front of the Hofbrau Haus tanks!

Dad, me and Mom in front of the Hefewisen

Cheers!

Saturday morning started pretty early since we left the house around 9:30am to go down to the Strip District for breakfast and visiting the shops! We had breakfast at DeLuca’s which was featured on Man vs. Food on the Food Network! They are famous for their breakfast and their crazy, large portions {hence the Man vs. Food appearance}. We explored some of the shops after breakfast, so Mom and Dad were able to see ALL of the crazy Steelers paraphernalia that’s out there!

After the Strip, we headed to the other side of downtown to ride the incline, go for a walk and experience the amazing view of the city.

About to head up the incline that was built in 1877!
I love my momma!

Daddy and I at the top of Mount Washington

With 3 of my favorite people in this world!

We ventured home after our adventure to play with Miss Maggie for a little while before going to Buffalo Wild Wings to watch the Aggie football game. {The game wasn’t in our region, so we couldn’t get it on our tv at home.} It was a messy game, but resulted in a win for the Aggies! We had a few snacks and beers at BWW because JP and I had an amazing dinner planned for my parents! We pitt stopped by the grocery store before heading home to pick up a few ingredients we didn’t have at home. JP cooked ribs while I made an avocado fruit salad, roasted balsamic cauliflower and healthy cookie dough dip! Recipes coming soon 🙂

Sneak attack!
She wanted to get him so bad!

She would randomly pounce on Mom and try to get her ears and neck 🙂

I was super active on Sunday and started with a 10 mile run followed by flag football! Take a look at some rockin’ action shots from yesterday’s post! Sunday’s a filled with football in the Gougler home since I’m a die hard Packers fan and JP and I both love the Texans. Since we’re in Pittsburgh, it’s fun to go out and watch the Steelers just to be in the great atmosphere!

This weekend was such a blast and I am so blessed to have made some amazing memories with my parents in Pittsburgh. JP and I have felt to loved by ALL of our visitors this year! We have so many memories and unique experiences with friends and family {Pittsburgh friends and visitors to Pittsburgh} that we will always remember our year here. As we get closer and closer to the end of the year, I think of more and more things that I will miss about this place!

I hope that everyone had an amazing Monday! I’m definitely glad it’s almost over though 🙂

Until next time…
With love and God bless,

Long Run and Flag Football

WOW!!! What a weekend it has been! Needless to say, JP and I had an amazing time with my parents. Maggie may have had even more fun meeting her other set of grandparents for the first time 🙂 Mom and Dad definitely enjoyed playing with their “grand-dog” as Dad called her. I’ll be sure to post an awesome weekend recap along with tons of fun pictures tomorrow!

On my training scheduled today, I was due to run 10 miles. I must say that this may be one of my favorite distances to run. It’s long enough to feel the burn and have a challenging workout, but I still feel great afterwards; pretty much like I could keep going! Today’s run in particular went amazing! I finished in 1:23:23. Here were my splits:

  • Mile 1- 8:43 min/mile
  • Mile 2- 8:39
  • Mile 3- 8:33
  • Mile 4- 8:28
  • Mile 5- 8:28
  • Mile 6- 8:15
  • Mile 7- 8:11
  • Mile 8- 8:08
  • Mile 9- 8:01
  • Mile 10- 7:58
I’m not going to lie, I’m super proud of my splits today! I’m especially proud of that 7:58 minute mile for my last mile of the run! Lately I’ve been focusing more on my breathing and keeping it steady throughout the run, but paying close attention at the beginning and the end. Warming up your lungs can sometimes take longer than expected when temps are cold. Today it was 32 degrees when I started my run and only 39 by the time I finished. Since I’m asthmatic, I have to focus on breathing even more in the cold because with a runny nose and tight lungs, it’s easy to take short breaths. Even though it was a bit chillier than I would like for mid-October, it was neat to be able to see the first frost of the season and to dominate my run!
After my run, it warmed up significantly and we had great weather for our flag football game. Since Mom and Dad were in town, we had them take some action shots during our game!
Awesome shot of JP catching the ball!

I’m one of our teams running backs! Check out my strong hubby blocking for me!
Not sure what’s going on here 🙂

I was diving for his flags and nearly had him!

JP taking a break. We only had 3 girls and must have 3 girls in at all times,  so no breaks for me!
Unfortunately, we ended up losing the game. Our defensive skills weren’t quite as stellar as they usually are, but we still made it to the playoffs! Our first playoff game is next Sunday and I’m hoping to get a team picture after the game! Even though we lost, JP made an awesome catch for a touchdown and another one for the extra point! I had several good runs on offense and 2 tips on defense that broke up the play, so I felt like I did my job. We’ve really enjoyed playing with this team and it gives us something to look forward to on Sunday mornings!
As always, the rest of the day was spent watching football! Go Pack Go! 7-0! Did you get outside and do anything active today? Sundays always seem like the best day to be outside especially if it’s sunny like it was in Pittsburgh today! I hope that everyone had a great weekend and enjoy your Sunday night!
Until next time…
With love and God bless,

My Friday Fancies and a Busy Week

Whew, what a week! I can not even begin to explain how excited I am that it’s Friday. Not that the week as been long, but so busy that I need a break! Well, kind of a break. It’ll be a busy weekend, but more of a fun busy with my parents here!

First things first it this week’s edition of My Friday Fancies! I’m linking up with Alison at Long Distance Loving!

I will start by saying that I am definitely a pink girl. I probably have too many pink shirts, socks and other such goodies, but I will admit that I don’t have a pink blazer! {The blazer isn’t actually sparkley by the way. That was just part of the frame it is in on Polyvore!} I’m absolutely loving the pop of color in the jacket instead of the dress. Not to mention this lace dress is absolutely adorable and could be worn so many different places! I am all for a versatile dress especially if it can be worn to work or out and look cute both ways. I added some hot pink pumps to dress up the look and Tory Burch flats for a more casual day! Oh and for an additional pop of color, I like the turquoise necklace!

Think Pink

Work picked up A LOT this week. Don’t get me wrong, I like being busy during the work day since it makes it go faster; however, fighting fires and piling extra work on top of my usual responsibilities can be overwhelming. Wednesday morning I nearly snapped! I did manage to get things taken care of and sorted out though. On top of craziness at work, it’s been a busy week without JP at home in the evenings. I’ve been trying to get in my workout, clean up the house {the parents are coming remember!}, take care of Maggie, do laundry, cook and eat, all while attempting to find some rest time. {Thank goodness I don’t have kids yet!} On Tuesday, I watched the Biggest Loser and was up running around cleaning and switching loads during each commercial. I guess it allowed for a little rest time without allowing me to be lazy 🙂 I had some errands to run Wednesday night, but decided to stay at home. Last night I managed to work like crazy all day, hit the gym with Maria, grab dinner and drinks at Houlihans, AND clean the hall bathroom, living room and our bedroom! Super proud of my productivity and I even managed to squeeze in a shower before bed 😉

Today is another busy day at work, but hopefully it will go by quickly because I’m picking my mom and dad up around 2:00pm! I can’t wait. Looking forward to updating everyone on all of our adventures! Hope everyone has a wonderful Friday and an even better weekend!

Until next time…

What I’m Loving Wednesday

Hello lovelies! Can you believe it’s Wednesday? I hope you’re week is going by quickly…mine isn’t going slow at least so I’ll take what I can get! As always, I’m linking up with Jamie from This Kind of Love for my favorite post of the week What I’m Loving Wednesday!

I’m loving the way I started out this morning! A great hour long workout at the gym and then I picked up a Subway egg white and turkey flat bread sandwich for breakfast! I’m feeling great!

I’m loving that I get to spend the mornings with my sweet hubby since he’s working afternoons. The evenings are lonely, but it’s nice to have someone around when I’m working. And of course, I just LOVE him to pieces!

I’m loving the awesome circuit workout that Maria and I did on the trail yesterday! You can find the workout at Peanut Butter Runner. I’m going to come up with a new one and post it soon! Check out how beautiful the trail is this time of year!

Loving the colors and the creek!

I’m loving that Mommy and Daddy will be in Pittsburgh in 2 days!!! I’m so excited for them to see what life is like for JP and I up in Pittsburgh! We have a super packed, fun-filled weekend planned which I’ll share early next week.

I’m loving Biggest Loser Season 12. I don’t feel as though I’m attached to any of the contestants like I have been in the past, but I love the show, its purpose and meaning, and the way I feel during and after the show. I have so much passion for health and fitness and it inspires me to continue to pursue a career in fitness later in life.

I’m loving some of my Pinterest finds of the week!

Super cute. Love the grey. You can dress it up with heels or make it more casual with flats!
